Open Letter to Rutgers Administration Over Hypocrisy

It is not the least bit difficult to contact one's senator or representative in support of or opposition to legislation. All one has to do is to go to the web site and write a note. And the RAISE legislation is absolutely irrelevant to whether Dreamers or their parents can stay in the country. That legislation has to do with restricting legal immigration, not with trying to deal with those who are illegal but who arguably should be allowed to stay anyway.

The university does have several reasons for supporting pro-immigration positions, most notably our population of international students (current and future) and the addition to campus diversity. I am not sure of the wisdom of Barchi urging students to express their views if they agree, but nobody is being forced to express that view.

This person's entire piece is based on the premise that Rutgers should encourage its students to take a stand that is contrary to its own interests.

If he wants to write his congressman, I'm sure his email address is readily available.
