I’m fine with Nils Lundqvist not reporting.
Wasn’t impressed, but could easily be wrong.

Rangers have mismanaged assets pretty bad of recent. Lundkvist is a top 4 dman and a pp qb but rangers are gonna have to dump him for like a 3rd now.I’m fine with Nils Lundqvist not reporting.

Great to have you aboard Kyk, had no idea you were a knowledgeable hockey fan.Rangers have mismanaged assets pretty bad of recent. Lundkvist is a top 4 dman and a pp qb but rangers are gonna have to dump him for like a 3rd now.
Granted this next point is looking ahead but rangers are so fvcked this july when they have to re-up kandre and laff. Especially after the contract ottawa just handed stutzle. Have to move at minimum lindgren and kakko (maybe goodrow too) to fit laff and kandres new deals. Ideally youd move trouba and kakko but trouba’s NMC will have another year left on it. Rangers hand out NMC’s way too easy.

Kandre’s ceiling is so high. He has tremendous offensive upside as well which hasnt even been on display yet. Hes ryan mcdonagh with more size imo.Great to have you aboard Kyk, had no idea you were a knowledgeable hockey fan.
Rangers are a playoff team, with an elite goal tender who can take them deep into the tournament.
Without getting into Drury, management and salary caps. “I hate that shit”
The Rangers will go as far as Kakko, Laff and Flip take them.
This is whether they remain as a line or separated.
Their play individually will determine how good we become.
K’Andre is a star.
No way Laff can center the PP Kyk.Also, id love to see laff fill the strome vacancy on PP1 but we all know turk is gonna throw in trocheck there. Trocheck is his guy and he also played the same bumper position on carolinas pp.
Side note, my buddy was on carolina last year with trocheck and says trocheck is gonna put up 70+ this year. Said rod always matched up trocheck with the other teams top line as hes a great 2 way center and feels turk is gonna get him and panarin good matchups at home.
LolYou can’t have a thread about both teams
I hate the rangers and you hate the devils
I don’t care about your 3rd line combo and you don’t care about how the devils have 25 players under 6 foot and 180 lbs
It’s amazing how much the game has changed. Guys like John LeClair and Dave Anderchuck (sp?) would never make a NHL roster today.how the devils have 25 players under 6 foot and 180 lbs
Yet the average guy is far bigger and stronger. It’s amazing how much the game has changed. Guys like John LeClair and Dave Anderchuck (sp?) would never make a NHL roster today.
Little Jack has a lot to prove. He is worthless on the bench.Gotta see Hughes stay healthy.
He’s a point a game player, but he’s so fragile.
Very excited for the NYR's season to start. The NHL season is WAY too long, but it's time to get going.Kandre’s ceiling is so high. He has tremendous offensive upside as well which hasnt even been on display yet. Hes ryan mcdonagh with more size imo.
im intrigued to see how turk handles that first line vacancy on wing. I hope we roll with laff there but then kreider has to switch sides, which shouldnt be a big deal but who knows with turk. Id roll with
Kreider-Mika-Laff
Panarin-Trocheck-Kakko
Blais-Chytil-Krav
Goodrow-Carpenter-Hunt/Reaves/Rydahl
I have to believe one of carp, hunt, rydahl starts in AHL and I lean towards it being one of carp and hunt as i dont think rydahl comes over the pond the play in the A
Lingren-Fox
Kandre-Trouba
Jones-Schneider
The Devils made some solid moves this off-season. They should be competing for a playoff spot this year. Offense was not their issue last year, it was the goaltending. If they can stay healthy at that spot, should be improved.
To make the playoffs? Half the teams in the league make it, they have the talent to be average for sureA few good moves but still not enough size and snarl
Their play individually will determine how good we become.
K’Andre is a star.
First time I saw him play at Wisky I was like “who is this guy?” in a wow way.Kandre’s ceiling is so high. He has tremendous offensive upside as well which hasnt even been on display yet. Hes ryan mcdonagh with more size imo.

Only saw a bit of K'Andre in college but "wow" is correct.First time I saw him play at Wisky I was like “who is this guy?” in a wow way.
He is almost there NHL-wise.
I’d pay to see Hughes, him and some of the other Rangers defensemen play.
Partial to defensemen as my older boy played that in college. So that’s what/who I watch.
K’Andre and Jack are something to see in person and up close near the glass.
Same with defensive defensemen like Mr Devil Kenny D. and Jeff Beukeboom, (sp) most likely wrong, not a meant slight to NYR fan's. Very astute posts. Those bigger forwards probably never get the chance to prove themselves today. It’s amazing how much the game has changed. Guys like John LeClair and Dave Anderchuck (sp?) would never make a NHL roster today.
Zap-I’m fine with Nils Lundqvist not reporting.
Wasn’t impressed, but could easily be wrong.
Nemeth was terrible. That said, Nils didn't exactly hit it out of the park in Hartford when he was down there.Zap-
You didn’t really get a fair look at Lundkvist because most of his ice time with the Rangers was paired with Nemeth, who was horrendous last year.
Interesting fact, there were 301 defensemen who played in the NHL last year. The Rangers had three ranked lower than 295 (Nemeth, Tinordi and Hayek).
A strong argument can be made that poor deployment decisions in the bottom pair D and bottom 6 forwards kept the Rangers from winning the Metro and making the Final.
I don’t give much weight to the performance of defenseman in the AHL because there is less structure there is in the NHL. Schneider looked better with the Rangers than he did with Hartford.Nemeth was terrible. That said, Nils didn't exactly hit it out of the park in Hartford when he was down there.
I thought Drury did a good job with the trade. Always tough to get appropriate value when someone is demanding out.

He shoots more than your typical PP quarterback. He has a much better shot than Trouba, so an argument could made that he fit on the 3rd pair at 5v5 and the defenseman on the PP2 unit for the Rangers, but since on the Rangers the second unit only gets about 20 seconds per power play he really didn’t have a potential role for them.Just my opinion, but Lundquist biggest attribute was to QB the PP.
With Fox and Trouba, what he brings to the table is greatly diminished. His defense is average, no better.
Wish him well in Dallas, but hope Dallas has 2 really bad years consecutively.
This situation is a little different from when players already in the league declare they want a trade.Great trade for the Rangers! The player publically said he wanted out, and they get this package.
For Dallas he needs to be Zubov 2.O. As a NJD fan, I wish this GM had a job in the mid to late 90's when Johnny Mac. forced a trade in season. The NJD only got Doug Bodger, and never regained their mojo.
True, I still think the NYR and fans should be tickled pink! If he is not a 🌟 in Dallas that GM will rightfully be fired. If he is not, well then they have an ownership problem, like my NJD.This situation is a little different from when players already in the league declare they want a trade.
If an NHL player making $3-4 million demanded a trade right now, the trading team has little leverage because quite a few teams can’t take on that cap hit, so the small amount of interested teams means the trade return won’t be great.
The Rangers had a lot of leverage here and allegedly had turned down a few offers that only included a 2nd rounder. Lundkvist is still considered a very good prospect, he plays a position (offensive RHD) that is in short supply in the league and is on his ELC so virtually all teams could fit his cap.
If you want to talk about a ridiculous trade of a player who demanded to leave, it is Marty St Louis telling Tampa Bay he wanted to be traded and only to the Rangers, and the Rangers with all of the leverage in the world managed to still give up Ryan Callahan and two first round picks for him.
I am not particularly happy because I think they made a premature decision to favor Schneider over Lundkvist. It is going to be interesting to see who they use as their 3rd pair LHD.True, I still think the NYR and fans should be tickled pink! If he is not a 🌟 in Dallas that GM will rightfully be fired. As usual you have a great level headed way to look at it. I think as time goes on you will be happier and happier.I am not particularly happy because I think they made a premature decision to favor Schneider over Lundkvist. It is going to be interesting to see who they use as their 3rd pair LHD.
Once they decided to trade him, I am as happy with the return they got for him as I was unhappy with the return on the Buchnevich trade.
it is the easiest prediction in the world that if they are in contention the Rangers will trade for rentals at the deadline (they can’t afford to take on cap for next year), so at least now when they trade a 1st round pick for 30 games of a second line RW they will still have another first to use in what is supposed to be a good draft.
I do too. Of course, this results in Blais and Kratsov on RW on first two lines.Love GG keeping the kid line in tact (For Now Anyway)
If they even approach the level they achieved during the playoffs, opposing teams will have to start matching their D pairings against them…that right there will make us difficult to play against
Those two definitely have to pan out to make this work Cheese.I do too. Of course, this results in Blais and Kratsov on RW on first two lines.

Might that be Patrick Kane?I am not particularly happy because I think they made a premature decision to favor Schneider over Lundkvist. It is going to be interesting to see who they use as their 3rd pair LHD.
