I’ve seen what they are asking for. An arm and a legIf the Devils let Debrincat get traded to another team, the GM should be fired before close of business that day.
Imagine how many goals he would score playing with Hughes.

Getting a player at that age with that production should cost two arms and a leg. They don’t hit the market often.I’ve seen what they are asking for. An arm and a leg
I hear ya, but are the Devils in a position to deal the 2nd overall tonight , next years 1st plus a top prospect while they are still in a rebuild?Getting a player at that age with that production should cost two arms and a leg. They don’t hit the market often.
That’s the ask, so I would assume they can negotiate down from that a little. Even so, I still think you do it because at 24 his peak would actually coincide with that of your two centers.Getting a player at that age with that production should cost two arms and a leg. I agree, I'm not a fan of Fitzgerald. My only concern with Debrincat is he is another small player. If they do trade for him they better, find other trades to get bigger. If the Devils let Debrincat get traded to another team, the GM should be fired before close of business that day.

Rangers don’t have a first round pickI agree, I'm not a fan of Fitzgerald. My only concern with Debrincat is he is another small player. If they do trade for him they better, find other trades to get bigger.
On your Rangers, if things fall right your 1st round pick may have the name Rutger, 😆.
Rangers don’t have a first round pick
unless they trade back
Winnipeg got it in the Copp tradeOh they traded the pick, I missed that one oops. The player I was talking about is Rutger McGroarty, a Center from the USHL.
It’s a pretty good deal if you view it as getting back everything they traded for Motte, Vatrano and Braun at the deadline.Rangers landed three picks trading Georgiev. Middle rounds, so nothing crazy.
I'm a bit surprised since he was on an expiring contract. Frankly, just happy to not lose him for zero return.

Still very scared about the rumors of them going after a high priced center, though.
Who’s this Nemich character? The Devils should fire their GM by the time I finish typing this message.
Debrincat to Ottawa for picks #7 and #39 this year and a second rounder next year.
WTF is Chicago doing???
The Devils were screwed by the NHL just not having a lot of first round pick trades like the NHL and NBA do.Who’s this Nemich character?
I'm assuming they are committing to a rebuild, perhaps assuming Debrincats departure convinces Kane to wave his NTC. That clashes with the ludicrous deal they gave Seth Jones though so who knows. The Devils should fire their GM by the time I finish typing this message.

And now they turn around and deal Dach? I've got no idea what they're doingThe Devils should fire their GM by the time I finish typing this message.

I wanna be the drinking buddy of their GMAnd now they turn around and deal Dach? I've got no idea what they're doing
Chicago is in a bind with the salary cap. They are a young team in the beginning of a rebuild. This is just a teardown, done haphazardly! I think they should have gotten more from their trades. I expect more veterans to go.I wanna be the drinking buddy of their GM
The draft isn't going to matter. Newark will miss the playoffs.....again.
How’s the healthy scratch doing? The draft isn't going to matter. Newark will miss the playoffs.....again.
Good way to shut down a troll. LMAOHow’s the healthy scratch doing?
😁
Getting more playoff points than your entire team combined. LOL!How’s the healthy scratch doing?
😁
The Devils still have more Stanley Cups then your Rangers in the last 82 years!Getting more playoff points than your entire team combined. LOL!

How many points did Little Jack get? Oh wait.....Weak.
He had 5 points in 19 playoff games and was a healthy scratch in a Game 7. 😖
You should have drafted Zegras
You and @krup are dead on here. Not a great job by NJD. Inexcusable to not get one of the best young scoring wingers in the league to go with that awesome C lineup. And for relative peanuts. Stupid, stupid, stupid.Ok now that I have had time to calm down from this horrible day, I would like to vent about my NJD.
Now it is no secret I have never been a Fitzgerald fan. Today must be the day that seals his fate, unless we miraculously have a great season, with more to come. As a GM TF either lacks instincts or guts. First look at the return the Blackhawks received for Debrincat. This means one pick with Holtz or a D prospect like Shakir M. would have gotten it done! Inexcusable.
Now let me turn my attention to the Draft. OMG Montreal took our player. Not the first time and it will not be the last. Simon Nemec was rated anywhere from 3 through 9, hey TF trade down. The long believed 1st overall pick is still on the board. There have been many reports of teams wanting the second pick. The NJD have their Power Play QB signed for 6 more years, Dougie Hamilton. Behind him, we have 2 high level prospects that play the role you drafted Nemec to play, in Luke Hughes and Shakir M. To make things worse, Nemec is not even the consensus #1 Defenseman in the draft. I prefer the bigger Czech D Jiricek.
As long as you don't go down below pick 10, without also landing a superstar, all will work out! There are still many good prospects on the board, draft bigger wingers and also the top goalie in our scouts minds. Now you must make amends for today's screw ups tomorrow and in free agency. Also sign Bratt. If you fail to get this done, with what transpired today, you should be fired with your pick for a Head Coach, Lindy Ruff, and never get a front office job again!
The NJD have a Fitzgerald problem, because they have an ownership problem! The owners would rather be praised in the media than win hockey games! I don't give a pass because Slafkovsky was picked. That was even a known possibility before last night. In that job, you get paid, in part, for your instincts. Meaning what happened should have been role played out. So even if Nemec was #2 on the board, play the draft and find a trade, because others see it differently than you. Failure to do so shows me, 1- how poorly my team is run, 2- how Fitzgerald should not be the GM.You and @krup are dead on here. Not a great job by NJD. Also agree on all of your detailed points on the D pick (nice analysis there btw). Look this kid may have been the next on their list the whole time, just as Shakes probably was as well. But damn if GORTS didn’t put the org in a tizzy AGAIN by swiping their guy with the pick right before them. What’s with all the Jersey hate buddy, lol. Did that guy get some bad pork roll or something when he lived in the area? Yikes.
Well said. The ownership is rotten. The NJD have a Fitzgerald problem, because they have an ownership problem! The owners would rather be praised in the media than win hockey games! Yesterday was just more evidence of the problems. Why does Dave Rogalski still have a job after a historically bad year? Answer poor management. Why was Ruff kept, when better, younger coaches (Cassidy for example), we're available? Answer poor management. Why did the NJD reach for a player, whose skill-set is matched by players already in the system? Same answer poor management!
So no I don't think I am wrong or "dead" on this thread LOL. I think I am spot on. The snake rots from the head down. This is an ownership problem, Fitzgerald is just a symptom so to speak!
SOB, those 🐸 eating socialists took the player I wanted! While I hope Nemec plays like Scott Niedermayer, I think Jiricek will be the best Defensman in the draft when all is said and done

Thanks, very true post! Harris and Blitzer care about buying franchises and being praised away from the ice, then they do about winning games! They are the worst type of owners. Jeff Vanderbeek was in over his head because he did not have enough 💰, but hey at least he was a fan that wanted to win.Well said. The ownership is rotten.
They were happier with Madigan announcing the pick than who they actually drafted.
I would have liked Debrincat but I’m reading good things with Nemich too
Not being an a-hole just calling it like I see it, in the moment! Sorry, not sorry you will never get a PC post from me. It is all true, like it or not. Canada would not still be a sovereign country if they did not have prime real estate above and attached to the 🇺🇸.Hey don’t be an a-hole. Show some respect.
They were incredibly high on and would've taken Zegras if they didn't win the lottery. It's the typical cruel, pat for the course, terrible NYR luck.Weak.

I'm not a fan of Fitzgerald either, but I wouldn't call Nemec a reach--Bob McKenzie's list (which as I previously mentioned is made from polling actual NHL scouts rather than just being a writer's opinion) had Nemec ranked 4th, and was the highest ranked defenseman. Also, it's Slafkovsky, not Slafkowsky. The pick will likely turn out ok but was a reach! With all that NJD still need, reaches at coveted pick 2 are not acceptable. There should have been a trade down already done, in case Slafkowsky was Montreal's pick.
Not a good morning for the Devils, either. You can’t let Husso go to Detroit for a 3rd.I'm not a fan of Fitzgerald either, but I wouldn't call Nemec a reach--Bob McKenzie's list (which as I previously mentioned is made from polling actual NHL scouts rather than just being a writer's opinion) had Nemec ranked 4th, and was the highest ranked defenseman.
