Weird that Oregon State and San Jose State had about 0.5M more viewers than Rutgers/Northwestern. RU in NJ/NYC and Northwestern from Chicago, one would figure it would have drawn more people, or maybe people thought it was a snoozefest. Those our good numbers for OSU, especially playing a MWC opponent, but San Jose State has about 250,000 alumni, many who live in the Bay Area. Also, OSU was ranked, drawing more eyeballs than two lower level B1G teams?

Well Oregon State was a 10 win team last year and DJU was making his debut for them too so that's an interesting watch for your typical CFB fan.Weird that Oregon State and San Jose State had about 0.5M more viewers than Rutgers/Northwestern. Noted, they all want to crow lol.Take CBS sports tweet with a grain of salt. Most of their SEC broacasts began after week 1, with week 1 games for the most part usually lower conference games, if ever, on CBS.
Time slot was great, CBS National game with no other noon or early afternoon starts. You can't get any better then that!timeslot was great, nothing more
Mandel's tweet legit stops at the top 9 ratings for some reason, with Rutgers Nwestern #10? SMDH

Holy Cow!.. I thought Texas Tech beat Oregon. Turned that game off too soon.Deion and Colorado score big for Fox again. If they both take care of biz against CSU and Hawaii this week, Oregon/Colorado in week 4 both undefeated and ranked will be a bonanza for whichever network has the game.
Oregon/TT was a fun back and forth game. lot of aggressive 4th down calls too which always adds to drama. Lanning/Mcguire are known that....a little too much IMO.Holy Cow!.. I thought Texas Tech beat Oregon. Turned that game off too soon.
Ratings clearly show that being relegated to a fractional BTN channel hurts ratings.
PAC is going to own a bunch of Colorado games. Every game in a PAC12 stadium. I wonder what their deals are with teh networks.. they own their own cable offering.. but from what I understand they got low-balled on per-subscriber rates.Oregon/TT was a fun back and forth game. lot of aggressive 4th down calls too which always adds to drama. That UNLV Michigan game drew well. Would make sense to put Rutgers Michigan on national TV especially if both teams are 4-0.
They'd like that but that's now how it works. There's a selection order for Pac 12 controlled games among ESPN/ABC, Fox/FS1 and the Pac 12 each wek. At least two CU games are contractually obligate to end up on the Pac 12 Network. I'd expect the rest to end up on ABC, ESPN or Fox depending on selection order for a particular week and other Pac 12 games on the schedule that particular week. So, I'd imagine their best bet to make money would be to sell those Colorado games to the highest bidder instead of trying to sell ads on their cable network as the cablecos that carry them would get a huge payday for the ad time they control.
It's already been announced for BTN.That UNLV Michigan game drew well. Would make sense to put Rutgers Michigan on national TV especially if both teams are 4-0.
I know, and that makes no sense, but I'm not in charge. The world would be better if I were in charge! It's already been announced for BTN.
Sound like you know what's going on. Are there any limits on how many times each network may choose the same teams? What I am guessing at is that Pas12Net might sell the 2 Col games.. is the clause such that Pac12Net gets 2 games for each team? Even USC/UCLA? Is that cause to guarantee that network access to USC/UCLA games (as usual in normal non-Cuach-Prime times).. so that other networks cannot take all best big market games? If Pac12Net can make more selling the game then I'd expect they would.. why would fans or a school be upset that their game is on a bigger network rather than Pac12Net?They'd like that but that's now how it works. Jay Dog may be tuned into this...when FSU leaves the ACC, is their likely destination the SEC or the BIG? I would think UF would object to them going SEC; on the other hand, FSU may feel more comfortable with the culture and reduced travel costs afforded by the SEC rather than the culture shock and West coast travel mates in the BIG. I would hope they go BIG to give that conference a foothold in Florida. This is reason # 1 why I've said all along FSU will be leaving the ACC by 2025
Ratings = $$$
And that's with 15 million people not having access to the game b/c of the Charter situation
I think it depends on each deal. I'm pretty sure I've read about something like that in the past. I won't say it's a standard thing though but it's just a possibility. Also some selections are made before the season and some are made within the season. The selection order between the networks can change as well depending on the round. So there are a bunch of ins and outs but it's hard to know the finer details from deal to deal.Sound like you know what's going on. Are there any limits on how many times each network may choose the same teams?
That's the million-dollar questionJay Dog

Nah, you're wrong. It was announced Monday. That's the end of it.it can be changed however
everyone I know from FSU wants BIGThat's the million-dollar question
Average fans and Boosters (roughly half) prefer the SEC
Football centric rivalries, better for Tallahassee economy, water cooler talk, etc.
Admin and BOG overwhelmingly want B1G
Academics, research, grants, AAU
A big thing is differencing FSU from UF. A lot of people feel we'll still be in their shadow if we're in the SEC. Not to mention, having to contend with Bama, Texas, Auburn, UF, Tennessee, Georgia, A&M, etc. every year - older schools with more big $ alumni
FSU built their brand playing a national schedule. That's how I became a fan - they were always on tv. They're also not like the other SEC schools - though definitely southern, they're not in a backwoods, one-trick pony type of town like a lot of them are.
Tallahassee isn't NYC, but it's night and day different than Gainesville. In Hogtown, all they have is the Gators. Tally has the state capitol, great nighlife, hotels, restaruants, etc. - there;s a lot of old southern money on the northern side of town, and a lot of kids who go there are from the NE
I'm actually surprised Texas didn't pursue B1G membership. They have a lot more in common w/the B1G then the SEC.
I'd prefer the B1G. Long term, it's the best play. FB wise, it's Michigan, OSU, PSU, and USC as the big dogs. If ND enters, it's them too
BBall is great. Baseball is solid. Women's soccer is very good. Softball is ok.
FSU doesn't have men's soccer, lacrosse, women's lax, field hockey or wrestling, all sports which the B1G excels at. I'd love for them add a few if possible
End of the day the need out of the ACC and soon. Everything I've heard says they're out by 2025. Makes sense w/the FB stadium construction going on next year, SC and UCLA coming in next year, and timeline on finding a new home will coincide nicely w/that time period
gotchaNah, you're wrong. It was announced Monday. That's the end of it.
A lot of the old timers remember when we passed on the SEC for the ACC (even though we didn't officially have an SEC offer, but that's a whole other story), and don't want to make the same mistake againeveryone I know from FSU wants BIG
most people recognize what happened to Miami when they 'regionalized' and FSU sees themselves as a national brand.
FSU to BIG when it happens
no the window has passedA lot of the old timers remember when we passed on the SEC for the ACC (even though we didn't officially have an SEC offer, but that's a whole other story), and don't want to make the same mistake again
However, at the end of the day, I think common sense prevails and we go to the B1G
I don't expect to hear much chatter until after the new year, as the BOG meeting was the other day and they barely mentioned it (stadium construction approval was at the forefront) and they even said they likely won't address it publicly until 2024 (though they did say things are actively going on behind the scenes)
Window has passed to join the SEC?no the window has passed
the monies involved to leave are really to great and the contracts for media rights will never be worked out so soon
yes that window has passed for foreseeable future. Now you just granted voting to 3 new members that will never let you leave without paying full amount. Each year it's less but you're taking 300-400mm dollars to leave and have the new conference a grant of rights on the media.Window has passed to join the SEC?
Also, monies involved are too great re. media rights that 2025 not attainable?
I presume that's why we voted against it, along with UNC and Clemson (and NCS until they caved). I'm still hearing 2025 as the exit date. I guess we'll see - lot of FB to be played until that pointyes that window has passed for foreseeable future. I do not see that happening
