OT: 2024 NY Giants Season Thread

Sideline reporters said he looked good in the controlled scrimmsge with the Lions today.

INCOMING!!!!
Had a solid 2 days apparently.

Helped in big way by Nabers who caught 17 of 18 balls thrown his way.

If Nabers is that #1, I think that WR group looks pretty good, and if the OL holds up, I think the general opinion of Jones will be much improved.

I think the majority of starters won’t play tonight. Daboll considered the two joint practices as playing time IMO.

He could be NFL Player of the Year and some would say he still sucks
To be fair. He hasn’t been great. Aside frim one year he hasn’t even been good.

But i do lay a fair amount of that on oline and receivers.

He takes the snap and drops back to pass. Thousand one, thousand BAM!!!!

My thoughts as well. I don't think they'll improve the Oline enough to make a bit of difference this season. You question if Thomas can stay healthy the whole year and Evan Neil's future looks to be flipping burgers in the fast food industry. Neil's biggest and only contribution thus far, has been laying on the training table. Neil seems to have hit the RD 1 pick 7 lottery and decided he's perpetually hurt.

I think it can improve to make a difference though not enough to be above to be more than average except for Thomas. That's without Neal. Of course injuries could make it another disaster.

Health in general along the oline but obviously Thomas is the key.

2nd year center should be both better and healthier.

I loved the Runyan pick up because he is a guy with a great health record(no whammy’s)

I think oline could be much improved.

Daboll looks like he’s lost a ton of weight.
He did, both him and his wife did

MY GOD! I know it's only one play in preseason but My God.

Oh man, these are easy picks he's throwing. Low and to the inside on a sideline route? That's like a high school mistake.

Bright spot….offensive line looks much improved. Get them off the field now.
Yeah I might have been wrong with the Oline, it looks better without Evan Neil (he should just start flipping burgers now). The running back Singletary keeps moving forward.

I didn't think it that bad. Good coverage by db.

Interestingly after that, and very much in the 2nd qtr, everything was back shoulder.

He has rust to shake off, and I think he needs to shake off the shell shock. Needs to settle into the idea of having a good O-line.

The 2nd INT was terrible. You have a speedster in Hyatt and you throw a line drive. That ball needs to be in the end zone so Hyatt has to race to catch it. It wasn't good.

Also the some success he did have came against the Texans backups.

It's the same old story and excuses for Jones going into year 6.

Wasn't a great throw. Which is obvious. But terrible? Nah, interceptions do happen.

The first one was terrible.

His first preseason action. I'm not going to make a big deal out of it. It's all about the regular season.

He's been making the same bad throws for 6 years. Nothing is going to change in the regular season.

He threw all of 5 int's just 2 years ago.

I'm hoping with a solid O-line, and the addition of Nabers, Jones can build off that season.

To that point, Nabers looks like he is going to be a beast right out of the gate. Last year I thought the WR room had ability but they needed more experience, and they needed a guy at the top, if Nabers is that guy, then I think we quickly swing from a below average to above average WR group.

The Hyatt near catch (out by a toe) was encouraging too. Maybe a bit of Nabers inspiring the guys to make more difficult catches. But also just Hyatt growing as an NHL player.

I also like the simple fact that Nabers, who was supposedly slightly banged up, played yesterday.

Can't throw INTs when you are on the IR.

Yeah and all of 15 TDs. His INTs were limited because he was captain checkdown since Daboll limited the offense to use his strength of short passes and running the ball. Once good Ds adjusted to that in the 22 season we saw how bad he would play like the eagles playoff game.

Daboll knew he couldn't win that way so he opened the offense up last year and Jones was terrible. Yes some of that is the OL but he also makes the OL look worse than it is because of his slow decision making as he doesn't read the field fast enough. Teams knew he would be a 1 read QB and take away the run and poof he was back to being below average from the at best average he was in 22. Go look at quotes from some of the DBs last year and the best play that encapsulates that was his pass in Seattle that went for a pick 6 as we were going for a TD.

Yes the OL played well yesterday and will be better and we have Nabers now. I think we're still going to see the same exact Jones we've seen for 6 years. The most mediocre to below average QB to ever have this long of a leash. Hope I'm wrong but at point it's on the $40 million QB to show he's worth even 50% of that contract.
