Death, taxes, and Rutgers-NB being ranked Numero Uno academically amongst public universities in the Northeast. Tied for 15th with OSU nationally, 7th in the B1G, 41st overall.
Probably takes time to reverse years of data. I'm thinking the acceptance rate is an average over a certain period of time. It's down 1 point from last year, so...progress.I find it very strange that with the massive increase in applications this year that the acceptance rate is close to where it has been in recent years at 65%
Yes, last year. 2nd year in a row all 3 have been Top 100.Rutgers Newark at 80
Rutgers Camden at 98
Have all 3 ever been top 100 before?
Looking at V tech high up as well wondering why they are never in the BIG expansion discussion. I understand the thought is always UVA but personally I'd love to be in a league with VTech again. Maybe they aren't AAU (too lazy to look up)?Death, taxes, and Rutgers-NB being ranked Numero Uno academically amongst public universities in the Northeast. Top 50 overall is big time.Death, taxes, and Rutgers-NB being ranked Numero Uno academically amongst public universities in the Northeast. Tied for 15th with OSU nationally, 7th in the B1G, 41st overall.
They're not but very, very close in terms of AAU status. I'd LOVE VT in the B1G honestly. They fit the B1G more being STEM based than UVA in all honesty.Looking at V tech high up as well wondering why they are never in the BIG expansion discussion. I love that our B1G academic peers are Wisconsin, OSU, Maryland, Washington, and Purdue. All fantastic universities.Wow. RU ranking in with some great company …
1 spot Right behind Wisconsin which has always had such a strong academic reputation for public university. Essentially tied with Ohio St Maryland and Washington
Same criteria that helped us helped them as well. I believe more weight is applied toward “socio-economic mobility”.Love that RU now ranks ahead of my daughter's UMD, lol.
NC State, FSU, and Ohio State were never schools that I revered academically. Either the ranking criteria has changed or these schools have made enormous strides. There is no question that good sports programs attract good students.
Great stats, the only "bad" one is being 41 instead of 40.
Unless it's an Ivy or similar, going OOS makes no sense at all.
The rankings provide ammunition for parents to argue with their kids to stay in state instead of expensive out of state colleges ranked below Rutgers.Taking a look at tuition costs within the rankinga and a very interesting story develops. Some of these private schools are 3-4x public schools who are equal or better ranking.
Also it seems RUs in state tuition is on the much higher end at 17k . University of Florida is like 7k. What a great deal !
Meanwhile a lot of the public schools out of state tuition is much higher than Rutgers 24k. Some schools like Wisconsin are charging over $40k for out of state.
Seems like Rutgers should be increasing the out of state tuition costs , accepting more of those people and then lower the in state cost .
Excellent.Rutgers-New Brunswick has had a jump in its academic profile (and reduction in acceptance rate) with this year’s incoming class. Those positive data points were not included in today’s US News ranking.
Meaning, we have a good start going into next year’s rankings.
Wake was #47 last year...NC State and Wake made big jumps. And I love that UMass passed UConn for #1 public in New England lol. And if you want to laugh at Seton Hall, just look at the fact that Stockton and Montclair State are ranked higher than them and Rowan is only 6 spots behind.
I agree, and I think the same about NC State, which isn't AAU but is STEM as Hell ("STEM AF" is how my daughter would put it)...They're not but very, very close in terms of AAU status. I'd LOVE VT in the B1G honestly. They fit the B1G more being STEM based than UVA in all honesty.
You’re so right if you grew up in NJ it’s Rutgers and nothing else. Must suck to grow up in and around Rutgers and then not get in. Not only must you go somewhere else but you also probably have to pay more to attend a lesser school.Great stats, the only "bad" one is being 41 instead of 40.
Unless it's an Ivy or similar, going OOS makes no sense at all.
The AAU short list IMO to potentially get invited next is VT, NC State, UGA, and FSU. Wonder if Wake is in the potential convo for AAU as well. Not sure what their research funding looks like.I agree, and I think the same about NC State, which isn't AAU but is STEM as Hell ("STEM AF" is how my daughter would put it)...
disclaimer: I still have lots of State friends from my ACC days.
That’s in “regional universities”, diff category.. Rutgers in “national universities” with the big boys.Momouth seems a bit high for Northern college rankings - top 20?

40th and also #1 in the Northeast amongst publics.Where did we rank last year?
Low cost of living states. How do we compare to CA, NY, IL, CT, etc.? That's probably the better comparison.I am happy to see Rutgers having success in the rankings the past couple of years, but I remain disappointed by the cost of our in-state tuition compared to some of our peers. Fabulous public universities like Purdue, UNC, Wisconsin, Georgia, Florida, Texas, etc. are all significantly cheaper in-state than Rutgers at $17k (Purdue, UNC, Georgia, and Florida are all sub 10k)

Tell it to the NJ politicians.I am happy to see Rutgers having success in the rankings the past couple of years, but I remain disappointed by the cost of our in-state tuition compared to some of our peers. Like some pompous schools like Villanova at 58 ,costing $ 68 thousand. The rankings provide ammunition for parents to argue with their kids to stay in state instead of expensive out of state colleges ranked below Rutgers.
