This publication (Business Insider) measures "dominance" based on a "Niche ranking"--a measure designed to give prospective students an idea of which schools have the best football atmosphere, games and championships won over the last 15 years and the $ generated by the football program.

Interestingly, in the Carolinas, only Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, makes the list, at #23. Go Mountaineers! As an aside, Boone is a terrific mountain town, and football weekends in Autumn make it a place worth taking in a game. (Full Disclosure: RUinPinehurst is also RUinBoone)

See below for those B1G programs making the list; view the entire articleonline at: http://www.businessinsider.com/coll...015-9?DB_OEM_ID=21500&&platform=bi-androidapp

App St next B1G school confirmed? We thought Delany wanted UNC because he is an alum but he is really going after the #1 NC school :joy:

Anyone remember this? September 1, 2007, App State defeats Michigan in the Big House, 34 - 32. That game is often referred to as the greatest upset in NCAA history.

Appalachian won three consecutive Division I FCS (I-AA) national championships in 2005, 2006, and 2007, becoming the first Division I program to win three consecutive national championships since Army did it in 1944, 1945, and 1946.

how is Iowa in the top 25 but not Michigan State

From the article:
"To create the ranking we used Niche's college rankings (50% of score), games and championships won in the last 15 years (25%), and athletic department revenue generated by the football team (25%; provided by the NCAA)."
