Has anyone been lately? What a friggin mess! My wife and I went yesterday just to get out and I have to say for someone like myself who is very laid back and unsafe I felt very unsafe and it was the middle of the day. Garbage everywhere and the Bally’s casino we parked at just seemed very dirty. Out on the boardwalk within 5 minutes we see a drunk guy verbally assaulting a young, black policeman and making a loud scene His friends had to hold him back because it looked like he wanted to fight the cop. He was the only cop I saw on the boardwalk. After 30 minutes of just feeling like I was strolling through a war zone we paid our $10 to park and left
I was always a supporter of what could be in AC but they have fallen dramatically since I was there last in January

AC has been a dump for a long, long time. Crooked and incompetent leadership does that.

Tried to go a few weeks ago before the casinos were open thinking it would be quiet. Was a disaster, streets littered with homeless people, drug addicts, and thugs. Everything was boarded up as well. My wife wouldn't even get out of the car, we just turned around and went home.

The city is a mess. Go to The Ocean or Borgata and don’t leave the property. No reason to step foot in anywhere else in the city.

Pre-COVID I was in AC about 100 days per year for business and pleasure.

The politicians deserve some blame but the handful of casino operators who didn’t know what they were doing and ran their properties into the ground deserve more. Specific to what you saw, CET made a mess out of Bally’s and it’s other properties. Let’s see what new ownership can do.

Plummeting property tax revenues from the casinos have led to a very noticeable decline in police presence and public safety on the boardwalk over the last few years.

We would usually just go to Ocean or Hard Rock and stay put. My parents do the same. My dad would go 3x a month but never leave the casino. I ventured off to town one time and my mom screamed like I was a 10yr old lol. She is also scared of her own shadow. I learned to not tell her anything.
I've gone to the beach 1 time at a Bachelorette weekend (Revel's pool was full) and saw 3 fights. One lady had her little kid with her and swung at a man. Was entertaining but I'd never go back. Low class people. I'd never pay to stay in AC but if we have a room I go. Was always curious about the "massage" places on the boardwalk... lol

I was at the Trip on Sunday. It was very depressing. This is coming from someone who takes about 4-5 trips down per year for the last 15 years. No drinks at the tables or machines, restaurants offering takeout. Tables all $25 minimum for blackjack. Don't see how they survive this to be honest.

...and that crooked, incompetent and no doubt “woke” leadership keeps getting re-elected...like DetRiot, Baltimore, Chicago, and other assorted s***holes. New additions to this list: Seattle, Portland and Minny! But they are woke af!

A/C: moribund for years...

You guys are including Republican Don Guardian, elected Mayor in 2014, right?

I'm not saying that there aren't a ton of problems. There are. But just to address one point upstream, I'm on the boardwalk every day, and from what I see it is loaded with police officers.

My neighborhood in the Chelsea area is peaceful and quiet; it's not in the casino district, though...

It is very true that during the Summer season and Winter operating hours the police are on the boardwalk. I see them, too. But all off-season after 6:00 PM and after the shops close for the night in Summer the cops are gone. I used to think nothing of walking the 3 mile loop that stretches from Trop to Ocean just after dark off-season or midnight in the Summer, and I’d see cops patrolling in their squad cars or on foot. Now there are usually none to be seen.

My wife and I were at Seaview about 4 years ago. Went over to hit AC and it was a disaster. Never got out of the car and went back to the resort. Can't imagine what it's like now.

Developers really need to take over and turn it into a family resort like Ocean City, MD or Myrtle Beach.

I go every year for the past 30 years. Stay at the casino hotels at least one week a year have never observed what I am seeing here. When neighboring states started gambling, there was
A down hill slide but things have been getting
Much better for the last 5 or 6 years. I am going
In two weeks at he Golden Nugget and Ocean resort. For years Borgata always gave me
Free rooms this year they wanted a hundred a nite
So I am going to try the golden Nugget, haven't
Been their since it was the Marina.
