OT: Brett Favre suggests Deion Sanders as Southern Miss’s next coach

He would need to hire very good assistants. He would be a great face of the program though for recruiting, fundraising, talking to the kids etc.

How can he get a head coaching job in college from being a high school coordinator? Screaming A where you at?!

Deion has a son, Shedeur, who is a top QB recruit and verballed last month to Willie Taggart at FAU. Kid has an impressive offer list. Any chance his son follows him to Jackson State?

“Sanders, the 14th-ranked QB nationally in the 247Sports composite rankings, will be a senior at Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas, this fall. His offer list included Alabama, Arizona State, Baylor, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Houston, LSU, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCF and UCLA, among others. “

Why would he go to FAU? Taggart is a terrible coach.

Signed with FAU in July. Led Trinity Christian in Texas to two state titles and ESPN has him as the 8th pro-style QB in their rankings. The Rivals site said he had offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Baylor, Colorado State, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Houston, Illinois State, Louisville, LSU, Memphis, Michigan, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee, UCF and UCLA. Didn't visit anywhere else--don't know if you could only do virtual visits--before signing. If his heart is set on Florida, why not UCF in Orlando. A rising program at a school with 70K students and tons of stuff to do in the area. FAU is down in Boca and had success a couple of years ago when Lane Kiffin was there. Otherwise usually mediocre.

Jackson State is a historically black school playing in the FCS SWAC conference.

They are playing a Spring season, first game Feb 21. We may be seeing a lot of Deion this Spring. He was on Good Morning America recently w Michael Strahan. His coaching staff will be all ex NFL players. JSU is the school Walter Payton attended but FB has suffered recently. Worth it for them to roll the dice w Deion and a NFL staff. I wish them well.
