I know the milfs down at the Hillsbrough Deli went pretty low as Temps bottom out at 1 degree in The Boro. I am concerned tht the milfs at the Dutch Country Amish Market in Flemington didnt do any better

-8 in Walpack was the coldest in NJ I saw thus far. It was -9 in Mount Pocono the latter was a record for the date but most other places fell short of the record which many set n 1989

Still getting down to the single digits doesnt happen all that often allthough this is the 3rd time this year in Hillsborough, getting to zero and below even rarer although Numbers can likely come up with those stats to confirm

Since I moved from The Boro to Flemington I am going to miss the Hillsborough Deli. But...But... you reminded me of the gals at the Dutch County Amish Market right down the road. Too bad they are only open Thurs Fri Sat. I hear the Amish women are head turners.

Time to panic! Newsweek was right.

6F in Metuchen. As per the min temp map below, it looks like it only got to 10-14F for EWR, CPK, LGA, etc in the urban heat island, but single digits almost everywhere else and below 0F in NWNJ, Poconos, Hudson Valley, etc. Coldest in the past 2-3 years for many. Waiting for DonS on American to post his usual temp wrap-up for the region.

Lol I tell my daughter all the time to stay young and enjoy being a kid, it is the best time of your life!!
Whenever I feel the aches and pains of age while I am at work, I look at a co-worker and tell him not to get old.

I think it sucks. It'll just be made into another strip mall or business site and low income housing.
I travel along 33 from exit 8 to the Manalapan/Freehold area quite frequently and I'm floored by the number of housing developments that have gone up in the past 1-2 years and are going up now along that stretch of road. None look to be low income, though.

Most of it is due to the COAH/low-income mandate. Since these units are not profitable enough for developers (and developers own many pols in Trenton), the state allows 4 market rate units for every 1 affordable unit. So, a housing mandate of 200 units actually means 1,000 will be built (200 affordable plus 800 market rate).

Keep building NJ and see what happens with our flooding problems.

It looks like they're all single family homes and I have a hard time seeing how any of them would be considered "affordable" although I'll admit I don't know their criterion for that designation.

Affordable units can be located elsewhere. We have a 124-single family home community and it's 20% COAH obligation is on the other side of Route 206 in a mixed-use building. Also, a developer can get out of building the COAH units directly by contributing to the town's affordable housing trust fund (which is used in other ways to fulfill the mandate). Did this once as well.

Seriously, the vast majority of residential development (market) in central NJ is due to the state housing mandate. I would guess 80-90%.

Definitely this. Freehold Twp's new Round 4 obligation is 568 additional affordable units.
Holmdel did the low income housing they owed the state for new housing right on the Holmdel/Hazlet border so as to not "ruin" upper crust sections of Holmdel residents "quality of life". Believe me, that racetrack is earmarked for business buildings and low income high density housing.
