Ohio St's run game is mediocre (66th) and ND has #2 pass defense that plays mostly man coverage.
If the Ohio that beat Oregon shows-up then they are the best team.
But I like ND's chances
Having a head coach that played for Ohio St takes some of the edge off the Ohio St. mystique for ND
Freeman is also a good guy with some serendipity working for him - and everybody likes him.
He's so much better than that spittle monster Kelly

I'm indifferent to them and pretty much everyone, except for the SEC nonsense this year, but I've seen 2-3 articles with the topic of "is ND likeable now" lol

I'm guessing they'll play the same prevent defense Michigan and Texas used and keep everything in front of them. I don't think OSU needs to run. They're best when they throw the ball. When Day tried to prove himself and be "tough" like Michigan is when they lost their way imo. Be who you are and do what you do best. They were on the verge of beating an extremely good UGA team in the semis, the year UGA destroyed TCU. OSU was a very good passing team. Howard isn't as good as Stroud but point still stands and he was good against Tenn and Oregon, came back to earth against Texas.

To me they should pass to open up the run and that includes throw to the RBs out of the backfield, to flats, screens, wheel routes etc...I think they should have used that more in the Texas game instead of throwing to the TE. They're potential home run backs, worst case you can move the chains and best case maybe break one. If the defense is going to concentrate so much on Smith and the WRs make them pay with RBs but in the pass game, not just the run game. I think PSU should've done the same with their RBs. I think Allar made some ill advised throws versus taking some easy ones.

My initial take last week was that ND would probably duplicate the Texas defensive approach with more zone and 2 deep safeties to contain Smith and their big play offense. I thought that if the ND QB played really good, they could keep it close. I’ve heard contrary reporting indicating ND will play their usual man defense with 1 high safety. Also ND has lost a few of their top OLs in the playoffs . I’m now not so sure ND will keep this close against OSU. We shall see.

Maybe just me, but a college game on January 20 seems anticlimactic. The season ended SO long ago.
Eventually they may move the season up so everyone starts on what is currently week 0 but not sure when that might happen.

Not only that but on a Monday night too! Usually by the time it's over its almost midnight east coast time. I'm not saying that they are hurting for eyes but I have to imagine that a Saturday or even Friday game would be better for viewers, bars, etc.

Or maybe that is just my own selfish opinion.

Monday night is ridiculous.

OSUbwas already more talented and throw in the rash of injuries along both lines and I think ND is hard pressed to win tonight.

Leonard is going to have to have the game of his life.

Mike Francesa used to say he encouraged the NFL to extend the season as far into Feb as possible.
In college there isn't much going on between holidays and March Madness.
Right now its easier to make/afford airfare and hospitality.
There aren't even mob of students headed to FL yet.
Personally I like this time of year's games since the weather sucks and there isn't much to do.
When the Super Bowl ends the winter is close to winding down.
Playoffs and title games keep people entertained in deadest time of year imo.
Once the game starts life should be nice like ice, solid and cool.

Typical ESPN bullshit. 7:30 start but real kickoff after 7:45. This will be a 4+ hour game easily

ND uniforms are 🔥

However, rooting for O-HI-O
Excuse me. You must mean THE Ohio State University 😁
Have met many great OSU fans over the years including the big guy with the giant buckeye necklace. I have a picture of @MrsScrew , Scarlet and the Buckeye guy for their first visit at Rutgers!

ND OL doing a pretty good job so far on this first drive. Leonard is going to get bunch of carries tonight looks like.

Leonard has 9 carries 9 minutes into the game. No way that lasts.

Like that Judkins play, that’s the kind of thing I thought they should’ve done more of in the Texas game.

I like that play to Smith. One of the ND players seem to be worried about a Smith on that play…he was right they were in the wrong call.
