OT: Columbia beat Villanova

Good for our strength of schedule. With our depth, we shouldn't be scared of anyone and we should be playing each game with a chip on our shoulder.

I met Jim Engles while he was the coach at NJIT. We were both regulars at the same breakfast spot. About once a week we had breakfast together and talked college sports. He was genuinely a good guy. I'm glad to see he is having some success at what was always his dream job.

Only one game (two for Columbia) but our opponents are all undefeated right now, except St Peters, but they lost to Seton Hall.

How do we know how much depth we have yet? I enjoyed the game tonight. But it’s not nearly representative of the competition we’ll face in most of the season right? I would think we need to play some really good teams to know what our true depth is.

I should have said, "quality depth". The players who are we are using 6-8 are a huge upgrade from past years. They have well rounded skill sets that aren't one dimensional. Having those options is going to be big this year as the competition gets more difficult.

Don't forget, everybody had to shift up one spot on the depth chart due to the Bailey injury.
