OT: Eric Dixon (we are off his list of 4 finalists)

Don't know about L'Ville but the other three have according to reports.

The "experts" have him selecting Nova, which is his dream school.

You mean the one's that went to 3 straight NCAA's ?

Mock all you want those are the facts.

If Coach P can bring in a group that accomplishes that they'll be canonized.

Not talking about how good they were as players - more of a reference to them as young adults. They came across as a bunch of thugs. JMO, but I don't think Dixon is at the top of our list. He doesn't seem to fit Pikiel's profile - kind of small to play inside in the Big 10, and not a step out three point shooter. We've run pretty much the same offense for two years - don't see him as a good fit.

Makes sense. Was high on Xavier before Mack made the move to UL. And I agree. Thought Nova was the school to beat all along.

I highly doubt he would list four schools he will choose from if he did not have committable offers from all of them.

If he gets them to the "bubble" they'll rename the RAC in his honor.

Dixon was waiting for Nova to offer, when they did, the recruitment ended.....I sat next to a Philly area HS head coach that was watching a few of the kids he coached against that were on Penn State, during the B1G tourney and he said Dixon wasn't really a shooter, but would be a force in the Big East in the Eric Paschall/JayVaughn Pinkston role in Nova's offense...just not as good as a shooter as either player

.Definitely a player that can help any program, but definitely a better fit in Nova's system for how they play offense....Dixon will be tough to stop off the dribble, driving to the basket, unless you have bigger players that can alter his shot....I'm not sure he would be as successful at an ACC or B1G level as much as the Big East, trying to muscle past players...The Big East is the perfect league for Dixon.

Generally not final lists 78. Or do you think he’s listing a school he could choose even though they have not offered??

Not from Seton Hall------but if it makes you feel better have at it.

Those 4 kids will all graduate-----scored over 5000 points----took a moribund program and made it relevant .

Bravo

Hope it happens here

A priority recruit for 2018-119 who then chooses other options and then some fans say he wouldn't be a good fit for Rutgers. Fans have heard this story far too many times in the past.
The bottom line is if you can't win then you can't recruit.
Few want to take the chance on a perennial loser.
It's a tough cycle to crack.
Seton Hall gets the players because they have established a history of winning regardless of how they did it.
Unless we somehow get a couple diamonds in the rough next season the same story will play again.
I think we have a great coaching staff who are making the best of what they have to work with.
In college however, recruiting is the most important factor.
I am pulling for Pike to right this ship.
But if not, the only solution as many here have proclaimed for years is to pay to bring in a proven winning
coach who can turn this around on name recognition alone.

It’s almost impossible to beat out Villanova for a Bucks county kid if They have a commitable offer on the table

Well at least Rutgers controls the naming rights to it's arena. Maybe they'll let you guys name a bathroom after one of your coaches at the Prudential Center. The PJ Carlesimo Men's Toilet has a nice ring to it.

Concise summary as to the difficulty in attracting higher level talent .It comes down to recruits having choices with successful teams versus those like Rutgers who are trying to break through with lower level talent and player development. In power conferences the first option usually wins out.

The equivalent of “my father is richer than yours”. Amazingly in life you make your own way.

There is the same story....RU offers 30 kids....2 to 3 can actually fit onto the roster with 2 spots available.....28 other kids with offers, go elsewhere, we see the same story of "RU can't recruit" 28 times.....RU lands 2 players and those 2 player are "not enough".

Dixon was much further down on Nova's list, they just recently offered, knowing he begged/wanted/preferred to be at Nova....the recruitment was over, once the offer was made.....not a knock against the kid or player, but it's all about perception.....Nova has it rolling right now, so it's difficult to argue that the player isn't elite or capable of playing anywhere, but it would be the equivalent of a Top 5 program landing a Top 175 player.........My knock is he's a bull in a china shop right now and needs to expand his face up game outside of 10 feet, to be an immediate impact recruit....like most recruits, he will take a bit to get started, but Nova isn't losing sleep over this recruit....The 2018 recruits signed are the elite difference makers here.

RU needs a Small Forward....once that happens, then other pieces will fall into place....until that gap is closed, it's really arguing apples and oranges about other spots.
