Reese’s is the best . Twix, three musketeers and plain and peanut m&ms up there .
We don’t give out Reese’s or peanut m&ms to trick or treaters , would feel bad if kid has peanut allergy and can’t enjoy . So we give out the others.

Favorite - Payday. Baby Ruth is a close 2nd. (Peanut theme here).

Least Favorite -Violet Candies (yes, they are still being made but I have no idea who buys them). Neco wafers are a close 2nd.

They still make Necco Wafers-my dad loves them, as well as Kandy Korn and Black Crows (basically an entire box of licorice jujyfruits). We give them to him as gifts and he always says he wont share any. No arguments here......

I Like Necco wafers myself- oldest brand name candy. Necco stands for New England Candy Company.
candy corn is worst, favorites would be Heath Bars and Peppermint Patties

  1. Reese's PB cup
  2. Kit Kat
  3. Milky Way
  4. Snickers
  5. Hershey's w/ Almonds
  6. Peanut M&Ms
  7. Baby Ruth
  8. Raisinets
  9. Whatchamacallit (are they still around?)

Chocolate.. It is hard to pick a favorite.
3 Musketeers
Snickers
Reese.. I eat with caution after my mother scarred me for life with her worm story. They also need to be chilled.
Kit Kats- carefully taken apart bit by bit.
M&M's.. ehh too many dyes.
Hershey Krackle

Least fav..Hersey's Cookies and Cream. Nasty and artificial tasting.

Candy= Sour Patch Kids. They're pure evil with the dye and sugar, but the are so delicious.
Trader Joe's has a candy called Scandinavian Swimmers(sounds naughty) They're really good too.

So glad my kid has outgrown trick or treating. Those were difficult times for a chocoholic.

Yes

Baby Ruth
Milky Way
Mounds
Almond Joy
Twizzlers or any Red Licorice
Junior Mints

No

Sugar Daddy's
Butterfingers
Candy Corn
And appearing that I'm the only one who doesn't like em, Reece's Pieces

Thinking back on my childhood, my friends and I probably should have soaped the windows of the people who gave us those chintzy little saran wrap bags of candy corn... (smile) The neighbors who gave us an apple weren't much better, but I appreciated their concern for our health... Mostly everything else was fine.

Good call on the twizzlers, but it’s hit or miss with those. I’ve gotten a lot of rock hard or stuck to the wrapper crap ones, but good, fresh and soft twizzlers are very under-appreciated

Raisins were my least favorite, especially golden ones. Raisinettes were legit, but plain raisins were just an affront to trick-or-treating.

I personally liked the wild card bag of Planters peanuts but would not blame anyone for banishing them to the category above.

Now a can of soda ...that was the right way to stand out from the crowd. Trick-or-treating is thirsty work.

Want to know the history of candy by decade? Or if you can still buy the candy you knew as a kid? This website lists most of it:

Thanks for posting that. I used to love Clark Bars but haven’t seen them in decades. Using your link, I found them and am surprised they still make them.

I worked in a retail store a few years ago, and most of the candy bars got infested with tiny worms and little moths one week... Nobody in the store was aware of it until a customer came in and complained that she bit into a candy bar that she purchased at the store, and got a mouthful of worms... The store owner apologized, but told her that the worms were nothing to worry about and then joked with a straight face that the extra protein was good for her. Probably not a good time to joke...

Turned out that the wholesaler who supplied the candy had an infestation problem in the warehouse. There were no more worm problems after all the candy was sent back and later replaced, but I can't help but wonder how many people ate the infested candy without noticing.

Yikes

Anyone else remember as a kid get sent home with a little UNICEF box the schools wanted you to put your trick-or-treat loose change into?

How come this hasn't been combined with previous threads on Halloween candy (that's sarcasm - our mod is sleeping on the job, lol)?

I'm not a big candy guy and actually don't like any of your top 10 (or bottom 10, lol), but given my picky-ness, I'm not a good authority on this.

Anyway, the ones I do like a lot are: Kit-Kat, Nestle Crunch, M&Ms, Hershey's with Almonds, and Krackle. I like Sweet Tarts, too.
