Prior to opening game of Finals, Odds Shark had Golden State as a -280 favorite to win their fourth championship in five years.

    Congrats to the Raptors!

Fun games. I haven't watched much NBA, but the shooting/passing was amazing, compared to what it was when I stopped watching NBA.

Congrats to them. I think they played well. No way in hell they win the series with a full warriors roster.

Tainted title. They only won due to injuries.

Well, we will never know. What I do know is that injuries are part of the game. All you can do is beat the team in front of you, and Toronto did that.

I went into this series rooting for Toronto. After Game 4, I switched my allegience to Golden State, for the sole reason that I did not want this series to end.

Sorry was tainted tittle. If Raptors had two players hurt they would not have won. Give Warriors credit.

Valiant effort by the warriors. Very tough breaks for KD and Klay heading into free agency.

I see a few taints here and it’s not the Raptors. They played great. Credit to Warriors for hanging in there with the depleted roster last night. I guess we could say any NBA title is tainted since players all sign where they want to and stack rosters. It is what it is. Congrats to the Raptors.

More skill for sure but also they take more risks. Warriors had more turnovers last night than the 1973 knicks had all seasons. It’s a different game today.

Staying healthy and being able to contribute is huge for people who are being paid significant bucks to play.

I believe the Warriors (and especially Steph) have always been a little loose with the ball.

    It's a mentality though.
    Similar to football.
If your offense is designed to flat out score, then you can take more risks on both offense and defense.

No need to play conservatively when you are confident you can come right back the next possession and score.

For all of those talking about injuries I bet you weren't saying that when Golden St beat Cleveland because Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love had gone down with injuries.

All the titles of these super teams are tainted. Toronto’s title is more legit because they didn’t stack the roster.

Tainted title is crap. Part of being a champion is having your team on the field/court. Toronto earned it and Golden State are runner ups this year. Injuries are no different than missed free throws - it’s simply part of the game.

The only people who care about “tainted” titles are opposing fans.

If we won the Big Ten because OSU/MU/PSU had injuries, Wisc got upset and NW repped the West in the Big Ten Championship game, would anyone here care about a “tainted Big Ten Championship”?

In a year or 2, no one will care who was injured - they won the title and that's all that matters. Were Milwaukee or Philly injured?

I'm a big NBA critic, but I have to say both teams played with great energy and heart, and both should hold their heads high. I hate how GS took a lot of heat for the KD thing - the game used to be about playing for titles and not prepping for free agency. Bad break but he should have played. Eovaldi almost threw his arm out in WS last year, but it was for a title. That's what its all about, right?

Congrats to the Raptors, wow! Winning 3 straight at the Oracle is no easy feat especially with all the horrible officiating. Kawhi, Lowry, Gasol, Siakam, VanVleet and Ibaka were phenomenal in this series.

Draymond Green may rack up a lot of assists, but he makes a lot of high risk passes which result in many turnovers.

All the Kawhi love is interesting in light of these recent events.

Last year he literally quit on his team for the entire year (played 9 games).
The Spurs cleared him from injury and he said "Nope. I'm not playing anyway. I don't feel right." (Alternatively, Durant comes back in Game 5 and has a major injury.)

Then Kawhi forced a trade to another team (similar to AD?) leaving the best coach in the league and an iconic franchise.

Even this year his "load management" lead to only playing 60 games and sitting out every 4th or 5th game (the most he played was 9 games in a row).

On the other hand, one of the best 3-5 players in the game and had an iconic playoff run.

I've always had him firmly #3 behind Curry and Klay.

He has 1 year left at 18mil and then a free agent in 2020 at age 30/31 by then.

Does GSW look to trade him this year?
I would absolutely not give him a max contract. Dont think he'll age well.

This popular media line is a little disingenuous.

Toronto traded for a Top 5 player on an expiring contract to make a 1 year run at a title. They didn’t develop him or build a team around him.

It’s not like Kawhi was some unknown talent.

The fact Kawhi wasn’t a lottery pick says more about the rest of the NBA and the Spurs development - doesn’t really say much about Toronto at this point.

I’m sure you felt the same way about GS’s first title on this run when Kyrie and Love were hurt...

The same team the Raptors curb stomped in game 4 won game 6 in Houston, swept Portland in the Western Finals and was the favorite in the NBA Finals.

The only thing tainted is your weak take.

It says a lot about Toronto. They built a very strong team before Kawhi, enough so to be a top team year in and year out and able to leverage some of that built up talent to land a true elite super star to get them over the jump. VanVleet was undraftes, Sakiam was a late first round pick. Both were in the G league. Raptors built a champion smartly. Just like the Warriors has built a champion smarty, Good draft picks no bad contracts and smart acquisitions of role players.

Injuries are part of the game. Toronto is a very good basketball team that peaked at just the right time. Even if Durant were healthy, this was going to be a competitive series, IMO. Loved seeing Toronto win, too (not a fan, just like underdogs). I still chuckle that people don't think NBA basketball is "good" basketball. Yeah, during the regular season you might see some lackadaisical play, but you see that in any sport. The playoffs, though, were superb this year with several great series. Love watching some of the best athletes on the planet performing at a high level, with great teamwork and under good coaching.

    Correct.
Last year, the Warriors were able to aided by Chris Paul missing game 6 & 7 of the Western Finals with the hamstring injury.
No one says their title was tainted.

I'm a big time Warriors fan, but in fairness, GS also won a few series with help of opponent injuries. That said, Toronto was really, really good. No asterisk needed.

Wonder if the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Arena will get a minor league hockey team or NBA D-League team now that the Warriors are moving.
