OT: I might have Covid

It’s weird though. A buddy of mine had Covid months ago. He did a fifth of scotch daily and swears it helped him.
I had a few generous Manhattans and martinis when I had it on the days I felt up to it and never felt like it did me any harm. Weird thing is - and this is just one way why any comparison of COVID-19 to the flu is faulty, since they are not at all alike - is that I wouldn't even think of taking a drink with the flu. I simply wouldn't want to. With COVID, it had some appeal, except for the time I couldn't smell or taste it anyway.

First, hope you feel better soon. You seem to be doing all the right things, which is good.

Second, scotch and other forms of alcohol often elevate both blood sugar and blood pressure. Both of which are linked to more serious COVID-19 illness. And can otherwise hinder our immune system’s ability to function properly. So I’m guessing your friend recovered despite his alcohol intake. Or is exaggerating it. Or both. I’d avoid any alcohol intake at all until after you recover, and perhaps for a few weeks after.

You’ll be good and we’re all pulling for you.

The common cold is worse for a lot of people than c-19. 4 or 5 days and you will be all better.

Take a few Hydroxychloriquine tablets every 4 hours and drink a fifth of vodka a day , the common cold is cured in no time with that medical treatment .
Start out with 2 Hydroxychloriquine tab and a Bloody Mary ( triple shot of vodka) as soon as you wake up and you won't feel a thing once you start on the quadruple shots of vodka .in your Screwdrivers a little later
You might even look forward to catching another cold so you can take the cure again.

As for the OP, just do what your doctor tells you and just laugh about some of the advice you're being given here.

My only fear is that all of a sudden, I’ll drop off the cliff. I seem to have the neuron stuff going on (headache, loss of sense and smell) and not the respiratory. I’m almost dreading that that is coming soon.

hope all that got this disease do well but why does anyone feel discussing this on a football message board makes any sense or is meaningful especially if you're currently ill--a waste of your get well energy

Ron, I have a feeling you will be fine. I feared the 5th day or the 10th after reading stories. Then I stopped with the fear porn and just relaxed. 🤞

"share experiences and treatments." sorry but who would really trust the medical opinions of "experts" on
these boards --- other than those that tell you to stay in bed and listen to the real experts who are actually treating you

A few who have gone through this and are relating their experience on this thread as opposed to medical opinions are a different story.

Just my experience, but I had all that and kept waiting for it to get worse. Near the end of my second week, I felt noticeably worse - crushing fatigue, labored breathing after a flight of stairs, and such, higher fever, and I was freezing even with four heavy layers on. It was nothing I couldn't deal with, but I kept waiting for the thing that would compel me to be hospitalized. It never happened (though there was one night where maybe it would've been smart, and my wife encouraged me to go). And that was the worst part of it. I turned the corner not long afterward and at the start of week three, one day I just felt markedly better. After about two or three more days, I was at about 90-95 percent, although that annoying dry cough lingered for another few weeks.

Whatever man. I responded to someone who equated this to the flu not the OP. And will respond to anyone who continues to downplay the virus every time. That mentality is leading to more. People getting sick and dying.
Go take your crusade to the CE board. All debate on that topic belongs over there. You clowns can fight to your heart's content on the forum provided for it. This is not that forum.

Why do people feel the need to critique people's discussion topics?

I mean, great, you don't think it's worth our energy. Noted.

I trust those people even less.

You put it on your finger? Damn I'm going to have to move mine. No wonder it was pinching me.

My friend experienced chills and a mild fever, so he got tested and it came back positive. He told me the fever went away in a few days and he felt fine. And his wife did not get infected. However, both him and his wife got tested again because of the holiday coming up and she tested negative with one test and positive with another test, and she never had any symptoms. My friend was annoyed because he was treated like he had the plague even after the doctor confirmed that he could no longer infect others. And I heard from friends of friends who tested positive and they got better fast too, same with fat old president Trump. I think they over report deaths. If someone died in a car accident and they had c-19, it counts as a covid death. If someone shovels snow and dies of a heart attack and they were positive for c-19, that counts as a covid death. And don't drink milk, milk is hard to digest and promotes phlegm. Like others said, drink fluids, eat soups and light foods and get plenty of rest. I would use aspirin to knock down the fever, but many people don't like aspirin.

I will add that despite my experience and thinking c-19 is over blown, I am very responsible wearing my mask, social distancing and isolating myself after going to a store, and try to only go to one store per 5 days in case I get infected at one store and go to another the same day. Like any infection, it can be very serious.

Before I finish making my way through this thread, let me say, this should be an interesting read. It’s always insightful to see the variety of opinions people put out there for medical treatment. That said. Hope everything works out for you. It sounds like you are in a lower risk group for complications. Hoping for a speedy recovery

An interesting bit my doctor told me today is, 10 days after first symptoms you can end your quarantine. No need for a second test.

Which is good because I thought I might have to test negative before ending quarantine, and I've heard some stories about that.

So here’s a question. On Wednesday, I had a slight cough and that’s when I knew something might be up. Would that be the day of first symptoms, or would it be something more severe? In other words, am I on day 5?

Me too. Lol. It’s at 99.
True story, we got ours this summer, wasnt feeling well last month, used mine, oxygen was fine but it kept showing a pulse 39-44. When it did i could feel a big thump in my heart, and a bit light headed Called my cardiologist, She ran an ekg, and they identified a PVC, which is mostly harmless, except mine is very frequent and almost nonstop.. doing a few workups now to see if anything more serious going on.

Btw pulse is actually 72, the pvc throws the algorithm off...but pvc requires a look. My Mlaw has covid and her O2 dropped from 98 to upper 80’s and off to the hospital she went.

Yep. I feel bad for him (this is going to sound Jerry Springer-ish). He found out his wife was cheating with his step-brother, and his daughter isn’t his but the step-brother’s. Crazy.
wow that is crazy. I didn't think those situations really happen or exist

Should he just call into the Michael Kay show like you and @superfan01 do?
