Thought I'd post some commitment news from a Big Ten mate, especially with talk around here about the type of player Rutgers should recruit.

Iowa received a commitment from Christian Williams of Illinois. The 6-foot-6 senior held mid-major offers with interest from Illinois and Minnesota.

Williams' AAU coach Gavin Sullivan of the Illinois Irish said Williams' size -- 6-foot-6 with a 7-foot wing span -- with the ability to handle the ball is what drew colleges to Williams.
"A guard that big with his vision with the ability to dribble past people and score is extremely attractive," Sullivan said.
A scholarship for a guard came open at Iowa when Trey Dickerson was granted a transfer by the Hawkeyes last month.
Noonan said Williams would likely begin his time as a freshman playing the wing, but Noonan and Williams said they eventually see him as a point guard.
"They like having long guards and he definitely fits that," Noonan said. "They mix up their defenses -- McCaffery will play man, 1-2-2 zone or a 2-3. Christian's versatility fits well with that."

Congrats, aggs. We need some good news, too. You guys have had a good season, though IIRC you were down earlier in the year. One of your own, an Iowa alum, went to the RU-Wisky game with me this year, and that was our last victory. So now he has to come to every game, but refuses. He'll come to the Wisky game next year, though. He has no choice.

RaRa,

I should have written "a commitment from one of our Big Ten mates" - I'm a fan of Rutgers basketball!

Funny, because my first thought was, "I thought Aggs was one of ours." Then my next thought was, "He must post on the main board and that's where I've been seeing him." Welcome back, bruthaman--you've been away too long!
