OT: Joe Biden has “aggressive cancer”

Hope he recovers.

Prostate has a good record if caught early, no?

Sad to hear, wish him the best and hope his faith can sustain him in through te treatment he will be going through
I read “While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.”
So it does sound that there is hope he can get better , but his age might play a part in how his body responds to the treatment he receives and or the type of treatment he'll be given .

Can't say if age is a factor or not when treating prostrate cancer and if so won't be a major concern when Biden undergoes treatment, I just hope Biden's age isn't going to make him overcoming this any harder than it would any other person with the same diagnosis ,at any age.

Hope he is able to successfully battle this, His age is going to work against his treatment though.

SMH if this has already spread to his bones. He was the POTUS … I always thought these guys received the best/constant medical oversight. I wish him a full recovery.

This.
You find metastatic prostate cancer in men that don't get yearly check ups. Not the POTUS who has a yearly physical at Walter Reed & whose results are announced to the public every year.
Either there was a bit of malpractice or a bit more of medical cover up.

My bet is on the latter. CBC, PSA, and/or DRE (💩) can help detect advanced prostate CA in earlier stages. All simple and routine tests he should have had done yearly. Now all of a sudden he is diagnosed with metastatic disease??

Mrs. Screw, when you say yearly checkups:
1. What age should men start having them for metastatic cancer ?
2. Is it in conjunction w/your PCP where you go for your physical and then they give you a referral to an Oncologist?

You don’t just suddenly get metastatic prostate cancer. You get prostate cancer first which is easily detected by routine blood work. Even Gleason 9 PC takes 5-7 years to go metastatic. So unless they were not checking his PSA level during his annual blood work, something is rotten here.

they do, so this was likely known for awhile, they just kept it a secret. Both him and his brother had mentioned it months ago. He could have already been getting treatment for all we know.

i'm no medical person but you should be getting your prostate checked yearly by your doctor and a PSA test.

Dr Ezekiel Emanuel (oncologist), a former member of Biden’s transition team who helped craft the Obama-era Affordable Care Act, stunned MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” with his stunning analysis. “He’s had this for many years, maybe even a decade, growing there and spreading. It’s a little surprising. I looked back at the records and there’s no evidence that when he got his health status and the medical records were released that he had a prostate-specific antigen.” Emanuel insisted the 82-year-old would have definitely had the disease even before he was elected to the White House — leading the MSNBC hosts visibly stunned. “He did not develop it in the last 100 to 200 days,” Emanuel said.

If you go for yearly physicals your primary MD should be doing a prostate check. Age 50 for most men to start, 40 or 45 if personal cancer history or family history of prostate cancer or if you are African American (AA men have a much higher risk of prostate Cancer) . PSA check starts at that time as well, then every 2-3 years or more often depending on the numbers
Fun fact: If you get a colonoscopy your GI doc will also do a free prostate check before they put the scope in.

The POTUS was most certainly getting this stuff done the past 4 years. No way this was not known before now.

Am I reading this correctly?? He never had a PSA done???

That's how I read it. Now there is always the possibility he had it done and the results were kept under wraps. We will never know.
IF the WH doctor wasn't checking his prostate or testing his PSA the family will sue him blind for malpractice. And rightly so.

I would find this hard to believe. For an admin that told us they were going to be the most transparent ever, they were actually the opposite. It wasn't disclosed just like all his other mental and physical problems weren't. We don't even know who was running the country so hiding the results of a cancer check up are clearly not so hard to believe.

Agreed, something isn't adding up.

Who knew we had so many urologists on this board? Instead of simply offering well wishes and moving on, some folks would rather spin conspiracy theories about the “timing” of the President’s cancer diagnosis.

For the record, this isn’t Biden’s first encounter with cancer. In 2023, he had a basal cell carcinoma removed from his chest. And back in Nov 2021, he had a potentially pre-cancerous polyp removed from his colon. He didn’t “hide” these diagnoses back then (as a sitting president) so why start now? Also, per the CDC, men who are 70 and older should not be screened for prostate cancer routinely. So there’s that. Relax, everything is not a big conspiracy theory. Get well soon, Joe!

Thank you for that post. I saw both sides of the aisle send Biden well wishes, from the President on down. Yet, not one Trump supporter on this site (@bac, @Caliknight, @BIGRUBIGDBIGredmachine, etc) has typed any well wishes instead pointing to a coverup or negligent medical care. Disgusting.

Hopefully Joe doesn’t read this board and his feelings were spared.

Hopefully people can learn how to have some compassion and not treat everything as a political blood sport. Wishing someone well in light of a devastating health diagnosis should be the easiest thing in the world to do.

FWIW, the JDog guy with the funny message board name sent his well wishes yesterday at 6:34 pm
