OT: Know when to fold them...

meh... i would have let it ride too. Its all relative. 300 Bucks might not be a big deal to wager for them and 5 k might not be all that attractive either. 28K on the other hand buys you half of a pretty nice car. LOL

Side story- I turned 300 bucks into $17300 at a casino once playing Blackjack. It was a 3 day grind... I took the money and went to the high roller section and hit a high point of about $27000 before i walked away with a wimpy $3300, some comps and a cool story. People always say, "you should have walked away!" But i already made up my mind in advance, i was trying to win big... 6 figures was my goal and if i didnt hit it oh well. It was all house money to me anyway. I set aside the 3300 to cover my trip cost and some fun money.

It was a rush betting between 3-5K a hand...Hope to catch a streak like that again one day.

I would have taken half off the table and let the rest ride.

A significant component of successful gambling is money management - if these guys are just doing it for fun or for low risk high reward then fine.
