OT:LET'S GO METS

Really don't want Puig - big fantasy postseason guy, and seen enough of his Ks in key spots.

Terry Collins should be embarrassed. I don't know why he would leave the kid in the game. He's been traded and he's crying on the field. I feel for the kid.

I do not like the deal either......Flores is all class......and I feel will be heckuva player in due time....i'd be happy if it was Lagares instead of Flores....

Makes no sense to get rid of Mejia now. Mets aren't paying him and he isn't taking up roster space. May as well keep him on the books until he comes off suspension a year from now, and make a decision then based on all the facts and circumstances then.

I think Mejia is entering his arbitration period. One friend of mine has speculated that they won't offer arbitration.

Lagares signed a new long term deal, needs TJ surgery, and has a nagging shoulder injury. I don't think the Brewers would take 2 injured players back. There are rumors that the Brewers asked for Dilson and Sandy said no.

Kept him in because the trade has not and will not happen, according to Collins.

What a turn of events!

Sandy just said this trade isn't happening. It sounds like the Media jumped the gun. Everyone wants to be the first to be the first to break the news.

Can't blame this one on Twitter or social media. Almost every big name reporter was saying this. Heck, even the Brewers official website had an article up.

Something happened..someone will find out what eventually. The mets saying a trade was never in the works sounds like bull to me.

I owe TC an apology. It sounds like the Brewers backed out at the last second due to concerns about Wheeler, but the story got ahead of the facts.

As much as I don't like management or ownership, I can't blame either for an overzealous media.

The good news is the Mets are still looking for a bat and are willing to trade significant pieces.

Where did you see a Mets source quoted that a trade was "never in the works?"

Misread Sandys quote. Apologies.

Said a deal "did not happen"..for some reason I interperated that as there was never a deal in the works.

Collins said he never knew about the trade, by the way, which certainly would explain why he didn't pull Flores.

I don't like defending Sandy or the Wilpons but, as I posted in another thread, that it seems pretty clear that Gomez has had an ongoing hip issue.

Here's a link to the Brewers blog saying just that last month:
m.jsonline.com/sports/blogs/307220301.html

I just don't trust Boras who is attempting to protect his client or the Brewers protecting their most valuable trade piece.

Really don't know where to begin here:
#1a) Flores should have been pulled earlier. We're not talking Piazza in his prime here in a pennant chase game. Benching a now backup Flores earlier really is a no-brainer.

#1b) Hip or money - really don't care. Who on earth is going to trade a player of value to these buffoons now?

#1c) Really wanted Gomez or Cespedes bad. To have Gomez for about 1 hour is typical X years of Mets frustration.

#1d) Thank the good Lord for '86.

I would be more upset if we traded a guy like Wheeler for a hobbled Gomez.

There are a number of solid OF that the Mets could really use. Hopefully, ownership will green light a trade for a guy like Cespedes, Upton or Puig.

It's definitely emotionally draining being a Mets or Rutgers fan.

Comments:
- Cespedes sounds like a not going to happen, so I'll move on from him.
- Two players now reportedly in play - likely Bruce and someone.
- Reviewing this lineup, they need a CF stud (Lagares should be DL'd and maybe even pined for the year), or a SS stud. I'm fine with Granderson in right, and a Conforto/Cuddyer platoon in left. Can live with Tejada at short (we won a ring with Santana for goodness sake), but really need someone in here who can hit.
- If somehow Wright/d'Arnaud can get on the field and we land one more bat, we really do have a shot.

PS: Parnell isn't going to work. Now with Mejia's bonehead move, we can use a 7th inning RP.

Parnell just gave up a grand slam to San Diego in the top of the 7th. He gives me indigestion like Amando Benitez used to.

#1a - Nobody pulls a player until the deal is done. It wasn't done, and Collins was clear he didn't know they'd made a deal. It would be one thing if they hadn't put him in the lineup, but pulling him would have forced the Mets to use a bench player and that doesn't make any sense.

#1b - I get that people are saying this, but it's wrong. There was a condition on the deal that wasn't met by the Brewers because Gomez has had hip issues. Nobody in MLB is going to think that's strange - deals that look done end up not happening all the time, and medical concerns are one reason for that. This isn't Peter Angelos signing a free agent pitcher and then reneging because he had minor tears in his shoulder (like every pitcher in pro baseball) - Gomez had known issues and the Mets were right to do their diligence on them.

There's no crying in baseball!

is there anyone on this bullpen who isn't a total retard?

top 9 2 out bases empty and familia gives up 3 runs

I'd rather have 50 cent close the fcking game

You should show him old games with Mel Rojas for comparison's sake.

As bad as Mel Rojas was on the mound, his greatest legacy with the Mets was how they got rid of him. The Mets were so eager to get rid of him they traded him to the Dodgers for Bobby Bonilla. The classic example of swapping problems, in order to get rid of Bonilla the Mets had to agree to the annuity payment which will haunt them for years to come.

F' Terry Collins. How does he bring back the closer after a 45 minute rain delay?

Yeah, that one's not on Mejia.

Edit: Uh, I meant Familia, although I guess it's not on Mejia, either.

I hate being a Mets fan.

Yeah, that one's not on Mejia.
You can take a fan out of the Citi crowd and he/she would be able to manage the bullpen better than TC. I can't wait for his stuttering babbling press conference to explain his decision making. The baseball equivalent of Lou Holtz without the success.
