Heavy snow coming to the lake effect areas of New York this week with those towns looking to get buried by Sunday

Going to Orleans County tomorrow. Opening Day Rifle season starts Sat. This weather could really make it a great day.
Real feel 10 degrees 6 to 8 inch snowfall through day.
Wish us luck
can you guys hunt bears again in Jersey? thought i saw a headline that's a go.

Beginning of ski season in New England

Read earlier in the week first east ski resort opened ... in NC.

First in the country was in ... Michigan. That was last month.

Weird season so far.

Killington opened today! Okemo on Saturday. Hell even Hunter is blowing snow right now. Always love skiing before Thanksgiving.

Dumb but serious question. Will I be able to drive from DC to Rochester tomorrow (Saturday)?

Might be an interesting last 100 miles
That route should be completely snow free, actually - the snows are only ENE of Lakes Erie and Ontario, which does not include the path to Rochester.

Just saw that News12NJ had an incredibly misleading headline blaring: "Heavy snows to impact parts of upstate NY - will NJ see snow?" Uhhh, no snow of consequence here from lake effect snowfall, ever really. There is the chance of some snow showers and even squalls for NEPA and possibly NWNJ this evening (short bursts of snow that could cut visibility and put down a quick 1/2" of snow), related to a short wave rotating through our area (not lake effect), but the chances of anything of note outside of Sussex/Warren and maybe NW Passaic are very low.

Odd that they would move the game since most of the snow will be over by tomorrow morning - could be a few inches Saturday night, but that's like flurries to us. Perhaps they think they won't be able to remove the several feet of snow that will fall through tomorrow.

That and they can't delay the start because one of the teams plays Thanksgiving Day.

That's the second "Eden" I know getting hit with absolutely ridiculous snow. Eden, UT got demolished with 8 feet in 8 days about five years ago.

Not most people's idea of eden, I'd imagine.

If I didn't already have plans for today and tomorrow, I might've made the trip up to Buffalo to see this - it's on my bucket list to be there for a major lake effect snowstorm...
right there with you, it's an impressive show of mother nature

Nice little snow shower here - great to see the first flakes of the season. Was cool to see the temp drop from 40F to 35F, as the precip hit, via combined evaporational and dynamic cooling of the column. Even at 35F, the snow has fallen heavily enough to put down a slight coating on cartops with more to come as per radar (might eke out 1/4-1/2" in parts of CNJ/NNJ). They had some serious snow squalls in the Poconos earlier tonight.

By the way, Orchard Park (where the Bills stadium is) just set a record for NY of 66" of snow in 24 hours - that's saying something...
