Best modern Yankee team came around when Steinbrenner was put on ice and Stick Michael (ex-player) knew how to make a team of pros. The current regime at Yankee HQ feels like they are more ESPN/Disney type of corporate turkeys

If they get out bid for Soto after signing all these dead weight FAs of late Hal should sell the team.
Sign Soto and try to defer are much of the money as possible (like with Ohtani and LA).

The Yankee fan base is so disgusted right now I think the Yankees will have to break every spending record, defer money wherever possible, pay whatever luxury tax, etc. to show the fans and current players that we are coming back for another WS shot. This WS has done a lot of damage to the Yankee brand - they look like a f’in joke. You know how many little league coaches are gonna use the Rizzo/Cole/Judge/Volpe fiascos as examples when teaching fundamentals! Not good for impressionable young fans. LA will be used as the example of a team that focused on doing all the little things right.
Damn straight, screw the kids! I want satisfaction now. Lots of players and officials need the boot. This WS appearance was mostly luck. The AL was complete garbage this year and we only had to get through 2 AL Central losers. Lose Soto and run it back with most of the same crew, we will struggle to be over .500.
I'm not saying that they shouldn't bust through the highest luxury tax level. I don't care about the money impact. However, there's a draft penalty for exceeding the highest threshold and I don't want the future impacted because of a strong overreaction.
I'd like them to re-sign Soto. I want nothing to do with Alonso he's not that good. Let Rizzo and Glayber walk. See how much Bregman wants and maybe sign him and slid Jazz over to 2nd. If Cole opts out I'd be very tempted to let him walk and go after Burns.
You haven't been paying attention. The Steinbrenner family only cares about money. They were happy the Yankees didn't get swept because it gave one more home game$$
I don't see them getting Soto.
That WS debacle could end up costing the Yankees hundreds of millions (may be more) in brand value as it is the BIGGEST embarrassment in the modern baseball era. Fan loyalty is almost nonexistent these days - especially the newer generations. The Yankees are the laughing stock of baseball. Brand is everything - look at what a few Superbowls in the 90s did for the Cowboys = I still have moron buddies that have been lifelong bandwagon Cowboy fans thanks to Aikman and Emmitt. Yanks haven’t won squat in 15 years and they finally get their shot and COMPLETELY blow it in epic fashion. Mark my words - in 5 years the LA Dodgers will be the most valuable baseball franchise especially if they win another WS and Yanks do nothing. These young kids barely know who Mantle, Maris, Ruth, Jackson, etc. are.
Soto isn't the answer because too much more is needed. If they sign Soto then they won't improve the many other problems with the team.
And no they aren't losing 100s of millions in brand value. In the 15 years of no WS appearance the value of the team has exploded. They still get huge attendance numbers, better then last year and the year before that, and the year before that.... without going to the WS. YES Network paying serious $$. Don't worry, the sky isn't falling.
You clearly don’t know much about the younger generations. No sense of loyalty = jump from job to job and sports team to team based on what’s “hot” or the second they don’t like something. This WS is a major black-eye for the Yankees as the blunders have been posted and replayed hundreds of millions of times on social media.

I’ve seen more LA hats in NJ in the past two days than I’ve seen in the past 10 years. But obviously I’m more sensitive to it and Ohtani also had a huge effect even before WS win. Although not suggesting LA is the end all be all.

As it is Yankee stadium only holds 46K so demand will always be there no matter what they do plus corporate America probably owns most of those seats. It’s going to be a brand issue unless the Yanks course correct. I suspect Soto's real time/money will be 13 years 585 mil with a deferral of whatever is wanted to make the newspaper amount what it needs to be.

Over the course of a few years, for a franchise worth $8B, you think hundreds of millions is ridiculous? The better argument is that even if I’m right it’s basically a rounding error. In the age of social media swirl those 5th inning blunders have been viewed round the world. My wife, who hates baseball and has probably never seen a game was asking me all about it the next morning.
