Virtual schooling in NJ is not working out so well, kids getting cheated
I have a couple opinions on that. My niece was sent to us 3 weeks ago by her frustrated single mother who is a nurse and her 12 y/o daughter would do anything possible to not do her school work. Failing each virtual class with her best grade being a 55. Even had what was a .08 in Math(which I thought sucked bad enough but knew a couple of good grades could at least get her to a 2.0 fairly quickly)- joke on me... .08 was out of a 100 score
she was missing 21 assignments and quizzes. Keep in mind at that point, she had maybe 23 school days.
Well, we have been pushing her and I set her desk next to mine in my home office. I helped her get through all of her missing assignments and how to email teachers if she has a question or if there is an assignment she did but still appears to be missing.
3 weeks later- lowest grade is now up to a 68...All others are over 85.
But I have noticed, teachers will give them class work and then just give the answers without explanation. I see assignments where the examples they give them are actually incorrect. My niece learns more from me going over homework with her than what she learns from teachers.
On the other hand- if she was in school- I don't believe she would be doing as well because I would not be there to monitor what she is doing or to make sure she is actually paying attention.
Her teachers seem very lazy to me
