Notre Dame and Navy play at MetLife Stadium (Saturday, October 26 2024). If Notre Dame ever joins the Big Ten, they would absolutely clean up in NJ recruiting.
Does Rutgers play a home or away game the day Notre Dame visits MetLife for an away game? Tentatively we are scheduled to play at Illinois that same day.

I don’t think their recruiting would improve in New Jersey if they joined the Big Ten. Rutgers just needs to win more on a consistent basis and we know that will happen a second time with Schiano. Recruiting for us will skyrocket. As I mentioned in another post, on that weekend when Navy plays Northern Indiana College, Rutgers needs to do one of two things. If we are home, make it Parochial Schools Day. Heavy discount tickets and teams can be on the field during pre-game. Maybe throw in a barbecue after the game. If Rutgers is on the road, schedule as many Parochial games as possible at a Rutgers Stadium. Parochial high schools from all over the state, starting at ten or eleven in the morning. Provide a day long Barbecue for each team after their game is completed. Give tours of the Hale Center, Battaglia Fields, Rodkin Center, etc. and have academic staff on hand to tell the kids about the excellent academics at RU, including being one of the Top 50 universities in the world.

How in the world do you come to that conclusion. ND in the Big Ten would be great for both the conference and RU. No fear just opportunities.

Notre Dame dosent want to clean up in NJ. They want to clean up everywhere.
I used to like ND til they screwed us scheduling. I could of lived with 4 in South Bend 3 in Piscataway. They expected our 3 home games to be in the Meadowlands.

That’s ok. Let them sign a ten game deal with UConn. One game at Yankee Stadium and nine games in Indiana. UConn will be thankful.

I am no fan of Notre Dame. If they join the Big Ten, it’s great for the Big Ten. Not for Rutgers. Another team to climb over in the standings and another team increasing their recruiting haul of elite NJ athletes.

Let's see. They're playing Navy, not Army. They want an NFL stadium. M&T? Nope. Met Life. Tell me this isn't about recruiting. As I said in an earlier thread, have they given Bosco, Bergen, Joe's, PC and St. Peter's their comp tickets yet?

Only problem is half of the things you suggest are NCAA violations. People over react to crap like this. Do you think a recruit is really going to choose a program because they played one game in NJ? If playing games in NJ was such a priority to a recruit they would go to Rutger over ND. NJ parochial schools are drawn to ND because they grew up ND fans. They are drawn to the tradition, success and national exposure not because they play one game every 4 years in NJ. For Notre Dane this is about appeasing their fan base in the area not recruiting.

You know we are already doing some of the things @HeavenUniv. is suggesting?

It is about both. Fan base and recruiting. They play to a national audience. Most of their recruits are from parochial and private schools. NJ is a great place for them to showcase themselves.

That why I said half. Certain things are allowed for example hosting games is allowed however things like providing them free food is not allowed.
We do that now for Pop Warner in the form of a food voucher.

Guessing the cut off is for HS age.

Serious question, does Notre Dame ever schedule their own home games on these "neutral sites"? Or is it the only the opposition that gets the "pleasure" of playing host, in this case hundreds of miles away, from their campus.
Hopefully the Navy will honor Adm. Bull Halsey, born in Elizabeth, during the game.

Schiano just hosted high school players for a Barbecue last week and they ate for Free.

You really need someone to answer that question?

I hope they do to Notre Dame what Halsey did to the Japanese Navy, but I guess that may be asking a bit much.

E5, I know high school players are allowed on the sidelines before kickoff. Don’t know for sure about having barbecues during the season.

24 high school teams playing at Rutgers Stadium on Labor Day weekend !
Publics and Private’s
New Jersey, Maryland, New York, and Pennsy
South Jersey/The Shore/ North Jersey/Central Jersey
Need to see more if this at our State University in all sports.

Zero impact re game or even ND joining the B10.

Notre Dame will always swoop in and grab 2 guys from NJ. And 2 guys from 10-12 other states.

They will never prioritize NJ over the remainder of the country.

And split the gate
Oh, the terms that they wanted us to accept for that contract were insulting.

5 Notre Dame home games at South Bend.

3 Rutgers home games at the Meadowlands.

For Rutgers home games, ND gets 40% of the tickets.

For Rutgers home games, ND gets 40% of the gate/revenue.

For Rutgers home games, ND gets 50% or more of Club Level Seating AND Luxury Boxes.

Are you sure? If they did then it would become an official visit. Typically what they do is any kid not on an official visit they them pay a small fee.

Does Swarbrick have a white horse for Schiano to ride?

It was great when Schiano told them to pound sand.

That’s worse than I thought.
I know Syracuse and U Conn bent the knee for them. Scheduling a home game at ghe Meadows for them.

Pretty sure Mulcahy was instrumental in that too.

The Yukon Neutered Puppies signed something similar, where they were going to play the majority of their "home" games in the series at Foxboro Stadium. However, I think the legislature there eventually force them to break the contract.

Will ND give up their TV contract?? If not they aren't joining any conference.
here's the thing the ACC realized... the ND contract is for their home games. They get that because they are valuable to broadcast.. or have been so. What the ACC got was the equivalent value of maybe 2/3rds of the ND TV contract because the ACC now owns 4-5 ND road games per year to televise. Before ND "joined" they got to sell ZERO ND games.. now they control the rights to 4-5 ND games per year while NBC owns 7-8 ND games iirc. A bunch at home and 1 at a neutral site.. sounds about right.

2021 ND schedule.. looks like 3 games for the ACC, 1 for BigTen, 1 for PAC12, 7 for ND and NBC.

There could be some accommodation for ND and them to keep a portion of their own TV contract. At least for a time.. valuable products like Michigan and OSU and to a lesser extent PSU might balk but what must be examined is total value to the Big Ten. How much more would the TV contract be worth should Notre Dame join. Do the proper maths, show Notre Dame the evaluation.. if it is worth more to them and worth more to the Big Ten at the same time.. how could they say no?

ND screwed up the Big East they’ll screw up the ACC. Just like Texas and the Big 12 “Hooray for me, and screw you”.
