What decent GM candidate would want to come to the Giants when the ownership has said that you can't pick 2 of the most important part of the team in the coach and QB next year.
But the GM is only tied to them for a year or two. And if it doesn't pay off they start over with a new clock.

Giants making me hate football
I'm still trying to figure out why I dumbfoundedly continued to watch that entire game. Either I was hoping for a miracle or it's the pain medication I'm currently on. I'm going with the pain medication cause all hope is lost for the near future.

If your D sucks , you still can score
If you can’t block anyone your QB , WR TE don’t matter. Constant 3 and outs will eventually wear down your D.

a Kelce like Center and a monster LT/RT are available

They may honestly need 8 new O lineman for next year that is how bad the O line is. Thomas seems like the only keeper

A game like today I give the D a pass. Can only expect a good but not great D to hold up for so long.

I was watching just to see how bad the offensive #'s ended up. Fromm's #'s were impressively terrible. Glennon had a drive though.

Often bad teams will have some young offensive players I'll want to tune in to watch. But Jones is out, Bark's legit stinks right now, and Toney can't stay on the field, and when he does get on the field, they don't get him the ball.

I did want to watch Fromm though. Certainly not an ideal situation to get your first start, but that dream is out with the trash now too.

Yeah and Judge and Jones will be dumped on the new GM and all three will be looking for employment in two years.

I think Judge and Jones only get one more year to prove themselves. If they fail the GM picks his own coach drafts his own QB, then get's 3 years. Much like Gettleman has.

I’m old enough to remember never thinking the Giants or Rangers would win a championship in my lifetime.
Now I’m down to Rutgers!!!
I would take one in any sport to die in peace, girls soccer and mens lax gave me a thrill this year

Eli was better than what they have
Roethlisberger still playing ok
Saints tried getting Brees to come back
Eli always threw ugly short balls so I didn't think he was so bad when they forced him out
They needed an OL.
I saw Hernandez play at Army with UTEP
His back is wide like a Sub-Zero fridge but he moves like a Sub-Zero too

The Giants can kiss my *** for making me waste my time for the last 10 years…

In life genetics plays a big part in your physical and mental makeup. So knowing that John Mara is the son of Wellington Mara how can anybody believe that he is capable of picking the right GM for the Giants. Remember Wellington whiffed on everyone he picked and it was so bad Pete Rozelle had to step in to get them to hire George Young. Now part of it was the feud between Tim and Wellington, but it was also incompetence. I just think that John Mara has not fallen far from that incompetence tree.

The Giants did win 2 Super Bowls post George Young.

It has widely accepted that these were the result of Ernie Accorsi's drafts and the coaching hire of Coughlin. Ernie was essentially hand picked by George Young. So the Mara's couldn't screw it up.
Damm. Didn’t even see this before I posted.

Coughlin and Eli are the obvious key pieces from Accorsi's era, but they didn't win a SB during his 10 years as GM, and won one of those SB's 5 years after he left.

Giants had good lines when they won the bowls. Tuck, Umenyiora, Strahan, Linval Joeseph, Snee, Diehl, Kareem McKenzie. Then Giants hardly drafted any OL after second SB. They drafted a couple that did well ( Pugh and Richburg) but they let other teams sign them away. Not drafting OL in early rounds - and letting go of the decent ones they had (Richburg was ranked #2 center in NFL in 2015) become Giants MO.

They finally drafted Flowers in 1st round but we know what happened there. Many teams look for athletic RTs with long arms and not the man mountains the Giants still like. Flowers couldn't move and Hernandez cant move either.

Gettleman came in and right away started saying Giants lost track of the basics and let the lines go (his famous "hog mollies" talk). OT Andrew Thomas was a finally good pick but he got hurt, and Gettleman wouldn't resign Giants best OL (went to Ravens who love him) because he wanted to save cap space. That's what Reese used to do. The Giants use OL to get cap space back. Between the weak drafts and castaways the OL has never jelled.

The offensive line for the 2007 super bowl was built by Accorsi. The 2011 line had 4 of the 5 from 2007. The defensive pieces that made those 2 super bowls were mostly built by Accorsi as well. Reese seemed to do fine adding the right players when the lines were built by Accorsi. But once those lineman moved on Reese was in over his head. Gettleman has the same problem. He can't find lineman in the draft and keeps letting quality lineman go to other teams.

Abrams looks like the favorite for the next GM. Hopefully he can build an offensive line.

But if the story is that Mara doesn't know how to hire a GM there isn't a whole lot of evidence to support it.
As stated above by others, this was 2 GMs who couldn’t rebuild the OLine when it was needed to be rebuilt.

You can also say that this was 2 GMs who couldn’t find the proper replacement for Eli, and no Daniel Jones isn’t it.

And there was a hell of a lot of busts picked in the first three rounds compared to what other teams have done in that time.

But yeah, people keep justifying 10 years of hot garbage by 2 GMs.

10 years isn't exactly wandering the desert for an eternity. Come on.

Dallas - 26 years
Washington - 30 years
San Francisco - 27 years
Pittsburgh - 13 years
I don’t care about other teams, esp Dallas and their annoying fanboys. I care about the last 10 years of the SOS while other teams surpassed the Giants in the dust. At least make the playoffs without going on a boat Playoff Week.

This I can agree with. Making the playoffs and getting bounced in Round 1 or Round 2 stinks, but coming in last every year for several years is painful.

It’s odd the Giants had no back up plan to Jones, he’s a fearless QB who will get nicked every year.
If I were the owner I would place the blame of no viable 2nd QB squarely on the GM and relieve him of duty

BINGO!!!!! You had teams who the Giants were even with had a couple of bad years but rebounded back to the playoff half of the league. Other teams who weren’t that good are now better than the Giants. Meanwhile the Giants: SOS.

Just like when the Mets beat the Cubs and Dodgers in the 2015 playoffs but both LA and Chicago did a hell of a lot more than NY after that.

And Reese should not have been looking for a Eli replacement.

Gettlemen is most likely out, I don't think the backup QB is the driving force, but he'll be gone nonetheless, or at least he better be.

Now I have noted that I don't care about the backup situation as I'm all about draft position right now. But that does factor in that we were pretty much already out of the playoff mix when Jones went down, if we were in the playoff mix when Jones went down and Glennon came in and played like he has then the backup QB issue would be a much hotter topic.
