OT: NY Giants 2021 Season Thread

Remember that time the Giants fired their OL coach midseason, and we all hoped that was a large part of the issue?

Dang, color guy ripping the Giants OL coaching.

The draw up on that last play? The O-tackle blocking down, and the center pulling out to block the guy with 17 sacks? Really have to wonder what the thinking is there.

Here a really sad and disturbing point I don’t think has been brought up. Gettleman has so completely screwed up the cap with bad free agent signings that despite likely having two, high first round picks and multiple picks, the Giants are the second worst team positioned for cap money. In order to sign these rookies, they have to trade or cut veterans. This is a big rebuild
I fully expect next year to be step one anyways, so I'm not sweating next year.

How far out do these cap implications extend?

I'm getting close to seeing what the Jets are doing.

I'm 100% going to switch to the Devils game at 3PM.
Damn, forgot the Rangers played early today, just switched that on. They’re up 3-0 on the two-time defending Cup champs (after having beaten them in Tampa in OT 2 days ago), much more enjoyable.

I stand corrected. Giants are 5 th worst. Two years out is too hard to predict. Contracts end and cap is altered by the NFL

Take as much of the cap hit as possible next year. Do not extend it out.

Puts Judge and Jones in a very difficult position(much like Gase and Darnold in their final year in NY) but like I said next year is year 1.

This has to be one of the most inept Giants squads I've ever seen assembled. Definitely top 5.

I’m with 05. Clean house and I mean, clean house. Total rebuild. Front office, coaching, personnel .
hey, maybe the Giants will reward you with a free large Pepsi next year, not just a medium

I've been a proponent of bringing Judge back next year, but this game is undermining that belief.

The problem I think is owners just dont understand the game of football. They don't know how to spot a good coach or GM. The owners have long needed someone to hold their hands and take them along for a ride. They don't know how to steer the car. They want to sit in the booth and be nice.

Yeah… Bring back Joe Judge. 😂.

Better coaches have been fired for less damage.

Meh… even if they did fire Judge, it will be the same thing 4 years later.

They have 4 yards passing midway through the third quarter lol. Worst team in the league

And while I certainly don't think Glennan is a good player, this game clearly shows the incredibly difficult hand the Giants QB is being dealt. The O-line getting abused, balls going through recievers for ints, special teams walking away from balls leading to awful field position, taking losses on back to back rushing plays while being backed up to your own end zone.

You do hear some talk of bringing in Russel Wilson, but is it even possible cap wise?

I'm against the idea in general, we are not close enough to contention to be trading high picks to bring in a 33 year old qb with a big contract.

If you are a QB away from being a playoff contender, bring in a Wilson. Giants are far from being 1 player away. Why would Wilson want to come to Giants?

I don't think Wilson will be the slam dunk some people think if he changes teams.

Wilson would be nuts to essentially finish his career with the Giants. The Giants would be nuts to allocate that much their cap to pay him.

Occasionally tuning in. One thing I will say that it is said that a player doesn't totally recover from an ACL until the end of the 2nd season after the injury. Barkley has actually looked better the last few weeks amidst the wreckage.

Been watching the Jets. Crazy but not surprising incident with Antonio Brown. Continue to show if you have talent teams put up with you.

They lost the game attempting to run a teenage looking Zack on a goal sneak up the middle on Ndamukong Suh

Will never happen but This is why the Giants have to draft two PREMIUM offensive Linemen next season.

At a loss for words.. comical
That pretty much sealed my opinion of Jets coaching. I know Moose hated the call but my mouth dropped before he said anything. Zach up the middle on goal omg

I don’t have an issue going for it. Everyone knew Brady would score if he got the ball back. The issue was the call, and it looked Salah was shocked by it. It was actually baffling. It made no sense.

You think anyone gets fired before the season ends? Im thinking they wait till after the last game. The Jets blowing it at the end did not help the Giants at all

Mara already said he wants Judge and Jones to come back for 22.

If the Giants owners want to know what's wrong with the team they should look in the mirror. Anyone stupid enough to hire Dave Gettleman isn't qualified to run a team.

I know I read that report. Today was a total embarrassment for the organization and may cause him to rethink. Who knows.

This is what I was thinking.

Sometimes you say things because it's the company line but don't necessarily mean it.

And sometimes you say something you truly believe but the situation changes. The end of this season in general, but this game specifically look to be situation changers.

We know our o-line is no good, but as a mere fan I'm just thinking personnel, and that is certainly part of it, but when the TV analyst says there is bad o-line coaching and shows a prime example of it? Bad look for Judge.
