Giants lost because they could not run the ball in the second half.
There is no way in the world they were going to win with a FG and leaving two minutes on the clock.
This was a terrible loss.

Yet they would have if they don't somehow go offsides on the FG miss.

But you are right, inability to run the ball continues to be an issue.

Awful loss.

After the Giant pick and they could not get a first down it was over. Good teams and coaches sense that and do what it takes to get the first down and seal it. On another note Barkley ran really poorly - tentative and unsure. Sad but that injury is why you don't draft running backs so high....

Luckily they are already locked into Saquan for a fully guaranteed $7m next year.
Lovely.

He was never really an every down, attack a hole, consistently get yards, rb to begin with. He's a guy who has always needed space. I think he's best served catching balls out of the backfield.

Which is whatever, if this team doesn't turn it around, next year is a tear down year anyways. That money doesn't hamper that.

Giants had a delay of game penalty after calling a time out to avoid delay of game.
No personnel on the field for several defensive snaps.
Think it was a 3rd and short on that last drive where nobody was backing the lineman allowing for an easy 1st down run.

The chances of Lawrence blocking that kick are 0%.
How do you jump the snap??
Just wait and make sure you are on sides.
So we not only have bad players but stupid ones as well. Well done Gettleman you’ve succeeded in making a once proud organization into bottom barrel trash. This team will go no where with him.

You have to wonder where the Giants will get their wins this year.

I see 2 wins ... next week vs Falcons (they stink) and maybe -- MAYBE -- the last week of the season at home against this same Washington team.

Tampa, Chiefs, Dallas, Saints ... Rams, Raiders, Panthers? I mean .. there are just NO wins in this schedule for a team with no offensive line and a mediocre defense.

I think Barkeley will be an excellent back if he ever gets any kind of an offensive line. Actually, I think Jones will be a very good QB (Phil Simms like) with one. But they are incredibly poorly coached and the GM is an idiot. Time for a clean sweep in management.

Here’s the problem with Barkley, he has a penchant for loosing yards, multiple times a game even on his good days.
He’s a very soft runner at the point of contact, the opposite of punishing.
You can have his big play every now and again…
Giants complete disorganized sideline is a full indictment on the head coach.
Plagued by motion and neutral zone infractions in crunch time

Saquan is a poor man’s Barry Sanders. I probably would have had Booker in for the last driver

D Jones played his butt off last night. He wasn’t the problem.

This is just a flawed team. Gettleman should be fired in-season.

What front office? Gettlemen is dead man walking. He gone.
Wasn’t this supposed to be the case last year. Gettleman had made mistake after mistake. He had no idea how to fix the offensive line or really anything. He’s had all sorts of high draft picks, and he mostly picked players who weren’t that good. And everyone seemed to think he was gone after the season.

And then he just stayed.

The bigger problem is John Mara. He’s not good at hiring front office people or really anybody. He seems to just hire people he knows. I recall reading an article about how the Giants have liked Garrett as a coach for years. That puts them in a club of one. And now we have him running a predictable offensive with deficient talent, all because Mara can’t hire good people.

And this is the guy whose going to hire the next front office—whenever it dawns on him to do that. Ugh. Where’s Pete Rozelle? We need him to force the Giants to hire another George Young.

What a damn joke that was last night. Basically all of us saw it coming a mile away when Slayton dropped the TD and then we settles for the FG after the pick. There was zero doubt in my mind and thats what this organization is now. Bottom of the barrel, undisciplined, unable to make the plays needed to finish games. Its been this long-recurring theme of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. On top of that our most versatile OL blows up his leg. Dont have any semblance of a pass rush. Gettleman is toast and if it continues like this Judge wont be far behind.

While Mara may be the sole problem, remember why Roselle stepped in. It‘s because the NYG were, and still are, owned by 2 people. I wonder if that dynamic is creating an issue again.

Personally, I’d fire the coach immediately after this debacle

Going into the offseason it was clear the Giants needed help on the OL and an edge rusher. And it wasn't only me saying that. After last night, even with improved pass blocking, it's obvious neither was solved. I put that on the GM, not the coach.

Unfortunately this isn't on Gettleman.
100% on the entire coaching staff.

Outdated OC playcalling and scared HC decisions.
How did we fall into the Ash Era with the Giants?

Jones was having a very good day.
Heaven forbid give him a chance a win the game.

And before anyone says "but Heinecke just threw a pick".
So what? Is Jones better than Heinecke?
If you believe your QB is good then put the ball in his hands.
You think other good teams would say "oh...the other QB just threw a pick, we can't trust our QB pass the ball now".

From an outside perspective, the Giants need a complete culture change. That starts from the top and trickles all the way down. Gettlemen...gone. Coaching staff...gone. Bulk of the players.....gone. Trade what you can, acquire assets and start the changes in the offseason. Try to stay ahead of the curve and get the best candidates in the door.

The team has no discipline and was handed the game multiple times but couldn't finish it off. The positives from yesterday were that Jones played well, OC called a good game for the most part.

And George Young was not
even picked by The Mara family. When Wellington
and his brother's kid were
constantly fighting over who picks the G.M
Pete Rozelle found Young
and told them to hire him
as a compromise.

That doesn’t explain the gross clock mis- management, philosophy of not attempting to get a first down after the pick, multiple motion and neutral zone infractions and 9 defensive players on the field not set on defensive snaps several times.
Total chaos

Kadarius Toney the Giants 1st rd draft pic tweeted the peace (two fingers) NY then deleted it. Kids mad I guess he didnt play much. Social media is so bad for these young immature kids. Once you post it, proof of it will be able to be found forever. He barely practiced all summer too.

Jones is a legitimate NFL QB. I was very impressed by the way he played and led the team.
Again, their problem is not OL or QB, but running the ball.
If they could have kept the ball longer in the last drive and score a TD, they win.
They couldn't and had to kick a FG with too much time on the clock.
This is exactly what happened to Dallas against Tampa Bay last Thursday.

FG penalty is too convenient to blame for the loss, but there was a bigger issue and that is you can't win at any level if you are mostly picking up 2 yards per carry.
