I believe we have more starters on offense injured than are actually playing. Well Mara has a built in excuse to retain Judge and Gettleman next year.

So tired of the Barkley era. Was a mistake from the get go. Clean house from the GM to the ball boy. Only wish the owner(s) could fire themselves.

I'm barely watching at this point but Aikman noting that "playing to the final whistle" in a game that is out of reach, and we've lost so many players already probably not the best coaching decision.

Carl Banks is a great listen on the radio. He pulls no punches. 👍

Bob Papa is still the worst play by play guy the Giants have ever had.👎

Young joka gonna young joka

game of career to suspended

Gifted player - like Beckham - but dumber.

Hopefully they sit on him early and don't let everything slide for 3 years like they did with Beckham and Shockey .

"We don't want to dampen his competitive spirit!" NYGs

Banks is great. A great listen .
I think papa is good though . Either way a better crew than whatever Fox has on. I didn’t listen , but did the radio guys miss a second quarter touchdown like fox ?

Tough call on Gettles.

Saquon was heralded as "generational."
There's no question he's a specimen. The speed+agility+ strength is legit freaky.
But a lot of those heavy lifting workout guys can be injury prone
That was Carl Banks concern about drafting Barkley
The guy did get rookie of the year so he wasn't a bad call.
If Barkely didn't get drafted it would have been Darnold and he's been injured/sick as well.

The thing I wonder about with Gentleman is why he trades away some decent OL. Last year's OL considered the most reliable was Kevin Zeitler. The Giants traded him to Ravens where he's been seen as a key acquisition and a bargain"

'The Baltimore Ravens made quite a few savvy moves this offseason, but perhaps the best move they made was the signing of veteran guard Kevin Zeitler...

The Zeitler signing undoubtedly flew under the radar. But when all is said and done, his addition has a chance to be the most impactful move the team made this offseason.

"The fact that the Ravens managed to get him at such a bargain too shouldn’t be overlooked. Zeitler signed for just three years, $22.5 million with a meager annual salary of $7.5 million."

Ravens: Kevin Zeitler signing was the best move of the offseason

Just the weekly reminder that "cleaning house" is going to accomplish little.

2022 roster is locked in and going to look mostly identical to this year.
We're in for a long 2 years.

Some notable 2022 cap hits:

Leonard Williams - 27.3m (remember when he was a playmaker? That was a fun 1 year experiment)
Kenny Golladay - 21.1m (remember when nobody else offered more than 1 year because he is always hurt?)
James Bradbury - 20.5m
Adoree Jackson - 15.5m
Daniel Jones - 8.3m (fully guaranteed and the team will have to decide on his 2023 5th year option for 20+m)
Blake Martinez - 14m (out for this year. Only 5.5m guaranteed)
Kyle Rudolph - 7.5m
Saquan Barkely - 7.2m (fully guaranteed)

Those are some bad contracts . But I must say I wanted williams signed . I didn’t expect him to shut it down after getting paid.

XM Radio has the equivalent of the NFL RedZone. They also have it for College games as well. I am amazed at how bad our local team announcers are. The Giants broadcast team does suck. Unfortunately, even though I love Carlin and crew, they are a letdown when you hear other schools broadcasts.

Carlin has the right degree of homerism as opposed to the cult like behavior of many others. And it's great to have Eric.

The play by play guys around here I’ll agree but not the color guys…

Carl Banks and before that Karl Nelson for the Giants. Solid.

#52, JPO, Ray Lucas, Tim Pernetti and even Scott Brunner. Not Bad.

Play by play you don’t like ? Bruce, McCarthy and Carlin ?

My understanding is that you have to look at the dead cap # / cap savings to understand the financial hit if they move on from a player next year.

Here's to Gettleman's greatest "cap" hits for 2021-2022 seasons:

The "Ugly".....
  • Williams, Golladay, and Jackson are likely with the team thru 2023 - barring injury/trade (which is unlikely). All have significant and increased cap hits next year as you indicated. Not mentioned and what makes this uglier is that their cap hits will increase from 2021 to 2022 to take on an incremental $28M of cap space and their dead cap figures will likely prevent the Giants from cutting them. This trend will continue into 2023 for these players.
The "Bad"....
  • Stirling Shepard's cap hit will increase by $7.5M next year - meaning he will be back next year. Even if they want to part ways with him in 2023 they will still have to take a $4M dead cap space hit.
  • Nate Solder is the gift that keeps on giving - after this year he will likely be cut but will still cost them $4M against the 2022 cap in dead money.
  • Logan Ryan at 31 next season will be a $12.2M dollar cap hit for both 2022 and 2023. They will likely have to part ways in 2023 but still take a $3M dead money hit.
The "not as bad"...
  • Bradbury's cap # drops to $1.3M after 2022 - so he is probably on the team for next season and then gone
  • Barkely will likely be on the team next year based on Cap hit - then the team can sever ties if it wants
  • They can cut Rudolph after this year and save $5M of his contract under the cap
  • As a starting QB - Jones is a manageable salary at $8.3M for one more year. They need to cut ties with Gettleman and not extend Jones - keep him through next year and then negotiate the contract if you want to bring him back for a 5th year and beyond based on his performance this year and next.
The "semi" good news......
  • Giants have ~$14M in dead cap money in 2021 that they'll get back after this year (from guys they cut like Golden Tate).
  • Evan Engram - $6M through 2021 only
  • Jabril Peppers - $6.7M through 2021 only
  • The cap is projected to increase to $208M in 2022
  • Hernandez, Austin Johnson, Riley Dixon, Billy Price, John Ross and Mike Glennon all expire after this year for a cap saving of ~$15M combined
  • Slayton, Tae Crowder, Carter Coughlin, Rodarius Williams, Azeez Ojulari are all signed through next year (and some for 2023 also) on relatively cheap deals. While none of these guys are currently all pro caliber -they are solid enough or have enough potential as keepers.
I gave Gettleman a pass for his first couple years as every GM makes mistakes (draft picks, salaries etc). But he's doubled down and compounded his initial mistakes with new ones. Just think how much better this team might be if he had given the $63M for Golladay, Williams and Jackson and applied it to the OL & Edge. Time to move on, and it would be even better to cut ties ASAP so he doesn't trade future draft capital to try and save his job.

Side note - parity seems to be out the window this year.......currently 7 terrible teams at the bottom with either 1 or 0 wins.

IMO (and I know not everyone agrees with me) Tom McCarthy was the best play by play guy.

I don’t dislike either of the other two but think Tom was that much better.
Hard to argue with you there . There is a reason why McCarthy went on to a lot of successs .
I got a soft spot for Bruce though . Many of those years games were not on tv (home and away, football and basketball). I spent many of years listening to to Bruce and nervously smoking too many cigarettes !

+ As we all do (or should).

* Left to right on your radio dial, obviously

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to tonight's contest between your Rutgers Scarlet Knights and the St. Bonaventure Bonnies in Olean, NY...where it might not be the end of the world but you can see it from here."

That's gold, Jerry! Gold! LOL

Red jersey with White lettering and black trim

Basketball favorite
to the line , to the lane , up and in !

Dan Jones on step 3 of the protocol. Practicing in pads.

Despite having very little interest in watching a Glennon led Giants team, I think I'd give Jones this week off.

Andrew Thomas injured, Kadarius Toney out got injured. Jones has zero time. Nate Solder is a joke.

It's getting worse. This team isn't even competitive any longer. I'm not sure what's going on, but every game guys are dropping like flies. We're down to guys who were stocking shelves last week. Anybody got a count on how many players we've lost? I know we got two back today but then lost 3 more.

Is this the plan? Roll Eli out at halftime every game to placate the fans?

I mentioned this somewhere above, but this seems to happen to us a lot.
