OT: NY Mets 2025 Season Thread

Btw- not posting to troll but didn’t want to make a thread to ask this of @Tango Two
Why isn’t there a Yankee spring season thread.

And guys- don’t turn it into a troll- I am seriously asking. We usually seem similar threads at the same time for all of the professional leagues.
One was started but white bus ignored it and started the season thread. I was thinking of doing the same thing once tango started posting all the stupid articles.

Verlander and Scherzer. Acuna, Clifford, and Gilbert.
I’m forgetting- Verlander and Max were trades. Again, I moved so far past both, I thought they were FA. And Acuna, Clifford and Gilbert all still have a shot but I am also not sure if anyone we gave up for them is much better.

In addition to the three prospects you mention, three other prospects obtained at the 2023 deadline are in the Mets MLB Pipeline Top 30:

#4 Ryan Clifford - for Justin Verlander
#7 Luisangel Acuna - for Max Scherzer
#11 Drew Gilbert - for Justin Verlander
#12 Jeremy Rodriguez - for Tommy Pham
#15 Marco Vargas - for David Robertson
#27 Ronald Hernandez - for David Robertson

I get it now- what we got back.
I am 100% ok with the returns…I liked getting both pitchers but also have nothing to say except losing cash on their returns…
Their returns are all pretty much at the top of our prospects

One other note about the 2023 fire sale: In the Eduardo Escobar trade, the Mets got a pitcher named Coleman Crow. They then flipped Crow to the Brewers, and got Tyrone Taylor and Adrian Hauser. That was pretty much a salary dump on the Brewers part, and whatever they brought back was a bonus.

Not sure how that happened after the clownshow Ruf trade 🤷‍♂️

Nailed it!

Mets options in Alvarez's absence, to pair with Torrens

* Roll with what they have - Jaxson Reetz, Hayden Senger, and Chris Williams.

* Sign a vet who is currently available, such as Yasmani Grandal or (dare I say it) James McCann.

* Explore the trade market.

* Wait a couple of weeks when teams make their final cuts, and see if anyone interesting is available.

Grandal would fulfil a personal full circle moment for me. My brother pitched at Rutgers, and Grandal hit a homer off him @ Miami that landed on top of the parking deck in the outfield there. I joke about it with him to this day, and he is a phillies fan, so that would be absolutely perfect 😂

Could see them trying to bring Nido back. He's on a minor league deal with Detroit but don't think he's going to make the team.

How many of those are starting with the Cyclones or Rumble Ponies?

6. Jonah Tong RHP - Binghamton
7. Luisangel Acuna INF - Mets or Cuse
8. Jesus Baez/SS/3B - Brooklyn
9. Elian Pena SS - DSL Mets

Cuse should have a pretty good team to start the season.

I do expect we see Sproat, Tidwell, Jett, Acuna sometime this season

Does anyone know when the Mets first regular season game is on SNY? Heard Gary complain about this on one of the Spring Training games - they open 3/27 vs Astros & don't think any of those games are on SNY. Maybe the Marlins on 3/31 - SNY website is crap says Pre-Game.

Thanks. @Doctor Worm mentioned to me the other day I'd have to wait a few.

Would be awesome if Trenton is the AAA spot someday.

Apparently, that is the plan, not necessarily the Mets, but a AAA team at some point.

That's gonna be tough. Absent expansion, the AAA market is a zero sum game. In order for Trenton to get a AAA team, they'll have to take it from somebody else. Is Trenton so attractive that some MLB team will move its AAA franchise there? IDK, maybe it is.

That said, I do think that expansion to 32 is inevitable at some point after the A's get situated in Vegas.

Which raises another possibility. The A's have their AAA team in Vegas now. When the parent club goes there sometime later this decade, presumably they'll need a new home for their AAA team. They would prefer to relocate it closer to home I am sure. But that may start the dominoes falling, which may leave some team without a AAA location, in which case Trenton could come to the rescue.

Yep. It seems this is something Trenton and those involved with the Thunder are hoping for, a scenario like this to happen...the planned upgrades are to make it a AAA level facility.

While I think many of us would love it to be the Mets, I'd settle for any AAA team because we would at least get to see Syracuse players more often and in person.

But would the Philles of the Yankees have the ability to block a move like this? My previous "conspiracy" tinfoil hat post about the Patriots and BlueClaws scheduling makes me wonder.

Where is the Yankee fan that would always come into Mets threads and predict/wish for bad injury news to befall the Mets?
No Cole, no Soto no WS. T2K+ is the one that comes in here a lot. Always with the Fat Pete stuff, lol. Yeah, we got Fat Pete and they have Aaron misJudged ⚾

Blackburn with a positive outing finally.
With Blackburn, since he's been getting significant starts over the last three years , his numbers have been consistent. An ERA in the low to mid 4s. That's what I expect and, other than an injury, I don't much care about his spring performance. Frankly, I hope by year end that healthy pitchers and young pitchers have moved him out of the regular rotation.

With the way Baty is hitting and McNeil out, does anyone think he will be able to play 2B and make this team or is it going to be Acuna?
