OT: NY Mets Season

Time to

We will have to have a consensus.
What is Sewageld? I like Shortwall or Seagall?
Famine rocks.
Hobbles is our ace behind Gsellman.
Lame

Can the Mets replace the bullpen with some batting tees in exchange for more bench players? 6 more catchers are needed.
I was trying to combine Sewald and Sewage. Shouldve gone simple and just stayed at Sewage.

Maybe Gsellman should be a starter. I trust him more than Matz and Wheeler. Should definitely be in there instead of Vargas.

Problem also is Bruce has 15 runs batted in. 15 and now it is June.
Money well spent (esp when you had him playing over Nimmo...

Frazier money well spent when you can see what you got with Guillorme instead of bouncing him around. Or Cechinni.

Gotta be honest that Gonzalez is actually playing better than hes being credit for this year. Of course he'll pull a hangnail and be out for 60 days soon enough.

Dont get me started about Vargas, esp when you already have solid starters in Lugo and Gsellman.

And that's just the beginning of re capping the offseason ot hell.

Now I get it:
Famine
Sewage
Lame (Rhame)
Blowvins
No Mas (Ramos)
Wobbles (Robles)
Bumming (Baumann)

Gsellman keeps his name. He is the ace.
Peterson needs a larger body of work to earn a name.

Some revisionist history in this thread about Nimmo. Two years ago he was being labeled a bust.
-Murphy was labeled as "lucky" by many in the org as he was hitting out of his mind in the 2015 playoffs. Even as fans were yelling out of their lungs to sign him to a multi year deal.

-Fans are trying to tell the org to stop screwing around Gsellman and Lugo and put them in the rotation offs. And stop kissing Matz asre.

Bruce is a waste. I really hated hearing Callaway spout that stupid crap about how Bruce needs to play every day because he's a streak hitter and you have to let him play through the bad times so he can get to the good times.

If he was a good hitter he'd hit good. Why do we need him to go on a tear in September when we've dropped 20 games back? DFA him.

Really?
2016, he only played in 32 games, had 80 ABs and batted 274. How is that a bust?
2017 he had 177 ABs and batted 0.260. That put him in the top 4 BA for all Mets, but that is not saying much.

Two years ago Mets had given up on Nimmo. He was to have been traded at the July 31 deadline to Cincy, along with two pitching prospects, for Jay Bruce. About an hour before the deadline, the Reds decided they didn't like the medical history of one of the pitchers (Chris Flexen I think, but not sure), and nixed the whole deal. Mets hurriedly came up with a new deal - Dilson Herrera and one pitcher (Max Wotell) which the Reds accepted.

I recall hearing a lot of criticism about the Mets giving up Herrera rather than Nimmo. Herrera had been viewed as Murphy's heir apparent at 2B, and was one reason why Mets were unwilling to give Murphy a long term contract.

With you on this one...No one was calling the kid a bust. There were most, calling him a 4th outfielder and no one thought he would break out like he has now. He is one of the reasons to now watch the Met's. I'll be honest, this year was the first that I started the season watching 90% of the games. I am now back to only watching when deGrom or Thor are on the mound and most likely the game is off as soon as they are pulled from the game as the BP is so hard to watch.
As for the players.
Gonzolez is playing much better than expected. Pace for a .260 20 80 type season with very good D and a good clubhouse guy.
Nimmo- well, nuff said.
Comforto: glad to see he looks to be back on track but not having him and his slow start back had us all worried.
Bruce: WTF? Like the signing or not, everyone had him penciled in for 25+ 90+
TF: another WTF though, if he had stayed healty he most likely would be pretty much where expected stat wise
Cesp: can this guy stay healthy? but if we can get him back with Nimmo/Comforto in the OF, maybe someone takes Bruce on a playoff push
A Cab: Where would we be without him...And he was the guy many wanted gone
Rosario!!!! Wow, his slow start killed us and had everyone worried...he looks to be where we expected now
Catcher- amazing that we are so fuxing excited to have a sub 200 hitter who can hit a HR every once in a while. Total disaster
SP: deGrom(top 5 guy) should have 8+ wins already Thor: has not hit his stride but that is a positive. Matz...starting to look like himself, Wheeler who the F knows. Vargas: wanted an innings eater now how he doesnt ever pitch another inning for us. We have two good starters in the BP
BP: get rid of every single one of them except for the two starters we have pitching there
Coaching: WTF
Front Office: Killing the franchise

Look, I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to baseball, I'm an amateur.

But correct me if I'm wrong, here... To get to the bigs as a pitcher, shouldn't "find the strike zone" be one of the key qualifications?

Blevins threw 30 pitches that inning. Maybe 10 of them were strikes.

At least when Steve Carlton played for the god awful 72 Phillies he still got victories. 27 of them. 46% of the lowly 59 total the team had.
Poor deGrom pitches great over and over and has nothing to show for it.

So- deGrom is on pace for 12 wins this year...210 innings 156 hits 61 walks 284 K's and only giving up 9 HR's with an ERA of 1.49 in 35 starts. 12 f-ing wins in what may end up as one of the greatest seasons ever pitched. If the Met's even just scored 2 or 3 runs a game for this guy he would have 8 or 9 wins already.
On a good but gut wrenching note...some team would be willing to give away a fortune of talent that can be star position players as well as help restock our minor league system for him at the trading deadline.

No reason to feel sorry for Jake. We should all have his problems.

He is not cursed. Things will even out for him as they always do. He'll get his share of 7-5 W's - just maybe in another uniform.

The Mets are going to score 7 runs??? Maybe in a week. Yes if his luck is going to "even out" it's not going happen with the Mets

Not sure what the first point means? We should all work our asses off and be great at what we do but because of our co-workers, we keep failing? We should all have that problem???

2nd point, no, they dont always even out for him. You can't get shutout innings and outings back. Yes, all pitchers will get a 7-5 win at times but they don't have to give up shutout wins along the way.

Danny Hurley threw out the first pitch. Looked pretty good. Put him in the pen. Holy cow, he is the oldest looking 45 year old I have seen in a while.

WHY IN THE BLUE HELL IS MATZ THROWING TO FIRST WITH A RUNNER AT THIRD? THAT OPENS UP AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE RUNNER AT THIRD TO STEAL HOME, WHICH BAEZ DID WITH EASE.

GOOD GOD, MAN!!!

BTW, The Cubs have all of these home run bashers in their lineup but yet scored on:
-stolen base at home
-a sac fly to the second baseman because the right fielder is an idiot.

Plus they have their biggest player on the team stealing bases FFS!!!!! This is how you play ball, SANDY!!!!!!!
