It is like watching the Rutgers offense last year.
Did not see any of the games this weekend (out of town) so cannot comment on the specific situation. But in general I will never criticize a hitter for swinging at the first pitch. If the manager doesn't want him to, then he should give a take sign.Baseball IQ of this team is horrible. Kevin P last night with that pitcher throwing a lot of pitches. Bases loaded and swings at first pitch, he just walked someone. make him throw a
strike.
What do you mean he is not a good hitter? Callaway has faith in his cleanup hitter:sunglasses:Did not see any of the games this weekend (out of town) so cannot comment on the specific situation. I get that Plawecki is not a good hitter. All the more reason why he shouldn't give away a strike. Hitting is tough enough as it is, it's even tougher when you start the at-bat 0-1.
Fair enough. Under those circumstances I am inclined to agree. But don't blame Plawecki. Blame Callaway for not giving him the take sign. The announcers agreed with me. The pitcher had thrown about 85 pitches and was gassed. The game that went 14 innings, make him throw a strike.
PJ Conlon claimed on waivers by Dodgers. Probably won't matter much in the scheme of things, but you never know. The guy was a prospect, albeit a middling prospect. And you hate to lose prospects because of poopy roster management.
What is poopy roster management? Poopy roster management is when you DFA a prospect to make room on the 40 man for a journeyman non-prospect in Scott Copeland, and then cut the non-prospect loose after ONE FREAKIN' DAY! Was Copeland's single day on the Mets roster really all that necessary?Couldn't the role have been filled by somebody already on the 40 man?
BTW, Copeland cleared waivers and is back in the minors. So we may see him again at some point. Maybe when the Mets get tired of the comedy act of Buddy & Gerson.
I’ll bite, why?May be the smartest thing that site has ever done
They did a poll a little while back as to which team NJ residents were fans of. I think the Yankees were somewhere between 45 and 50 %.Ok

He'll probably forego the Mets and go play at LouisvilleDrafted Kelenic. At best develops like Nimmo but this one will take awhile.
Because Mets fans are too smart to waste their time looking at nj.com

I know that Met bashing is fashionable right now (I've done it myself) but this is just crazy talk.If he is smart, he will go to
college.
Nor is he walking away from his $5MM bonus slot.
He's actually had what could be termed as quality starts his last 2 times out now. Nimmo and Cabrera both going South at the same time, and that's basically all they've had prior to them slumping.Vargas doing his best to keep the ERA near 10.
Nimmo makes a swell catch, and not even a gesture giving Nimmo kudos. Dislike Vargas.
Nonsense. I am certain that they are thinking about it. Maybe even wishing, hoping, praying, etc.Team has given up all thoughts of plating even one run.
Took Wheeler out at 93 pitches for no reason.
Sometimes ignorance is bliss.Didn't know they were playing a day game today. The motley crew.
