OT: NY Mets Season

Still playing for the home run with no home run hitters.
Mets tried to play small ball - Bottom 8, leadoff man on first - and Cabrera bunted into a double play. It's not always the manager. Sometimes the players just gotta execute better.

Time to fire everyone, starting with the owners. I don’t know why I bother watching this team year after year. Sh&t bring back Mookie. I bet he would hit better at 60 years old than these tards.

I absolutely hate this years team. Starting pitching is getting better. The bullpen, fielding and hitting are absolutely atrocious. Those 3 aspects are not even worth AAA level. How can you build a team around pitching and have no fielding, bullpen or hitting? Time to fire Sandy. Sadly Mets owners are cheap and will not give up any money.

They were 11-1 because of small ball type of play. Or they were just going for the home run. Then they just went back to trying to hit Homers.

Lenny Dykstra still has fire in the belly. Problem is, if the recent Linden police report is correct, he is firing up elsewhere too.

In this country, I don't think you can fire owners. At least not without a major overhaul to our political and economic structures. If that's what you are suggesting, it's probably best taken to the CE board.

I think the Mets have sold their souls for winning that 86 WS with that crew, including that scumbag Dykstra. They haven't been right ever since.

Can't we just demote the hitting coach whoever he is? This way the Wilponzis don't have to eat his salary.

Maybe it was already captured.
16-31 W-L record since the 11-1 start.
Not positive, but I don't think get in the playoffs with that kind of record.

Fire Sandy first but I guess I'm

Would love to be a fly on the wall in the front office when these decisions are made:

The Mets have claimed LHP P.J. Conlon off waivers from the Dodgers, less than a week after losing Conlon to the Dodgers after DFA'ing him.

In order to make room for Conlon on the roster, the Mets DFA'd infielder Phillip Evans.

Conlon, 24, allowed four runs on eight hits while walking none and striking out one in 2.0 innings during his start for the Mets against the Braves on May 18 in Atlanta. He made his major league debut on May 7 against the Reds in Cincinnati, allowing three runs in 3.2 innings.

Conlon, who thanked the Mets organization in a Twitter post on Saturday after being claimed by the Dodgers, may not have a future in the starting rotation. But using him as a LOOGY (left-handed one out guy) could make sense.

Maybe they'll bring up Biff Tannen's son.

They drafted Tommy Wilson of Cal State Fullerton, the son of Thomas Wilson.

Familia to DL with shoulder soreness. Rhame returns.

The silver lining is that since Mets do not score and never have the lead, they are well positioned to do without their closer.

Truly unbelievable. Forget about trading for deGrom; the Mets should be contracted. Just give the Yankees any player of value.

No. Hope Yanks get deGrominated tonight. It's our best hope in this series.
What a total joke of a team. Can't believe Sandy still has a job. Decimated farm system.

In a day where people protest everything, fans need to stop going to Mets games until the Wilpons sell.

Making the 2015 World Series was the worst that could happen for this franchise. They now don’t feel the need to do anything except sign 40-year old re-treads.

This team need to be blown-up and built back up like the Astros. Different owners and management would help too.

Yankees would have lit him up anyway. He’s not getting the fastball by good hitters. deGrom is a way better putcher and mentally it’s not close either.

A couple of observations:

1) If Met management and ownership is so incompetent, how did they get to the 2015 World Series? Unless Collins >>>>> Callaway? That's the only variable.

2) Making the World Series is NEVER a bad thing. Never. A brief history lesson: In 2015, Mets were coming off three years of heartbreak followed by six years of irrelevance. In 2015 they determined they had a shot, and they went for it hard. And succeeded. Yes, it cost us Michael Fulmer. But really, that's about all.

3) The "blow it up" question is a fair one for debate - as long as we agree on definitions. Blowing it up does not mean DFA'ing Reyes. It means trading deGrom - for starters. Are we ready to do that?

What would you have us do with Reyes? He's awful. And terrible.

DFA him of course! But my point is, that doesn't constitute "blowing it up". That doesn't move the needle one iota. (Assuming needle movement is measured in iotas.)

Oh, okay... I see what you're saying.

My thought is to keep:

Nimmo
Conforto
Mesoraco
Flores
Cabrera
Rosario
Lagares
Frazier (maybe)

Everyone else is on the block.

So you'd put ALL the pitchers on the block? Interesting. That may be what it would take to bring back the type of young five-tool position players that the Phillies and Braves have, and the Mets do not. Young, controllable pitching is in demand, and that's the one thing the Mets have to offer.

If you do that, you are of course writing off at least three years, until the next crop of young arms (Peterson, Dunn, Szapucki, etc.) is ready - and hope enough of them make it.

I think you can cull down your list of keepers even further. Mesoraco and Cabrera are free after this year. Flores, Lagares, and Frazier are free after next year. May as well get something for them if you can, although none of them have any real market value.

I'd be semi-inclined to keep deGrom, but yeah, the rest can go. Even Syndergaard, who is a little on the fragile side. My personal philosophy is I don't want guys who spend too much time on the DL - hence no way I'd keep Cespedes.

There's about 3 or 4 guys on this roster who need to be put on a bus, stat. Bruce is definitely one of them.
