OT: NY Ranger fan punches TB fan

What are we inferior too? Your 1 cup in 82 years makes us super jealous.
Also aren't you the same poster who posted the weird asian porn in the Ron Harper thread a few weeks back by mistake or was that someone else?
It wasn’t him.

I have been going to many of the Rangers playoff games. I find many Ranger fans to unfortunately be obnoxious / drunk / vulgar and young. I’m a Rangers fan and the crowd behavior / vibe is not pretty especially in the 200s.
Im glad they caught this douchebag and I hope he’s convicted and jailed.

Where did you run mens leagues? I play and have played in my fair share the last 15 years
I was at Protec for almost 10 years and then Ice Vault for a few months before changing careers. I played a few summer seasons in the Woodbridge league before that and have been playing roller at Inman on and off since I was a kid in the 90s. Now I play at BSA but can only make about two games a season.

I'd say it's usually the goombahs from Staten Island that cause problems. Same goes for men's league players. Whenever I had a team of Staten Islanders ask to join the league I was running, I asked the local refs if they had problems with them at other rinks. It was about 50/50, some teams were fine and others came to me because they were kicked out of leagues closer to their home and could have had a Slapshot sequel written about them.
That’s an interesting nugget. Imagine being such a collective group of aholes that you can’t find a league to play in!

Hope this bum gets more than a slap on the wrist. Any short wired person who sucker punches somebody over a game deserves all the punishment he gets.

Used to know a professor from Monmouth Univ that talked about his students from Staten Island. He referred to them as Meatheads.

I had a co-worker from Brooklyn and her son went to a private Catholic school. She used to tell me to never let your kids play with / be friends with Staten Island kids. I have a really good friends from Staten Island and they are great. So bad apples everywhere.

Permanently banned from Rangers games and all other MSG events

I play at Inman every Tuesday. You're absolutely right about the Staten Islanders.

I think it used to be worse there. I worked there part-time for a couple years in college, and one night a guy took a slapshot at the other team's bench.

Yeah there are at least a few teams I know of that bounce around from league to league because they wear out their welcome everywhere they go. I had a few teams I had to kick out and a list of players that were banned too.

My grandmother lived in Staten Island when I was a kid. My mom wouldn't let me play with the other kids on the block and I didn't understand why until I got older.

There are bad people everywhere though, and not everyone I had issues with as a league director was from Staten Island, and some people from there were totally fine, but they certainly did take up a disproportionate chunk of the banned list.

Roller or dek? Because a few years ago a guy took a snapshot at me, on the bench, but I play dek.

I'm not sure because fortunately I wasn't there that night. This was sometime around 2010 or 2011. The dek games tended to be even worse than roller.

I’ve always wondered how they enforce these bans? Obviously he can’t buy the tickets himself but he could easily still obtain a ticket and there’s no other check of identity at that point.
They might have facial recognition cams that could help them with that. Some stadiums do have those cameras already.

Yea, that may have been me. That guy still plays in the league. Not a Staten Island guy, though.
That's crazy. Sounds like we are talking about the same incident, hopefully the same thing didn't happen there twice.

I was wondering the same thing, banning scumbags for life sounds like good PR but nearly impossible to actually enforce. As far as I know, there aren't any sport venues that have facial recognition on your way in.

EDIT: Based on Tico's post, maybe I'm wrong about that.

As a Ranger fan from NJ, my perception is that the bad fans are generally from the 5 boroughs. That should not taint the entire fanbase since that applies to all the NY teams as well. That being said Devils fans are no prize either. Most look like they live in their parents bas

That made me laugh...

I don't think it is fair to say "Staten Island again". This is happening and has been happening across the country for a number of years now. A parent of my sons team, here in NJ, had a few words with the opposing coach last night. Both teams are from NJ, one from Jefferson and the other from Mount Olive. Even the article points out how this is not only happening here. MOST, parents are NOT going to cause problems. SOME, parents live through their children when they play in organized sports. They suck for doing this. Praying for the umpire to recover and to be able to have men who are willing to be an umpire for our kids team sports.

Angelina and Vinny are the only ones from there.
So was Michael, the Situation.
2 from NJ. Deena and Samantha.
1 from the Bronx, Ronnie.
1 from Rhode Island, Paulie.
1 from Long Island. Jennifer
1 from NY State. Snooki

Manalapan.

Or as Keith Jackson used to say…Mana-lap-pan.

Born on SI but raised in Monmouth County. Although he does fit right in with the type…

Sorry to see Protec close down recently.

Ice House seems to be a great league, tough to compete with when I was at Ice Vault. Many of us who worked at Protec within the past five years saw this coming. The GM, who used to be the assistant GM of the Rangers in the 80s, made some bad businesses decisions and after we had our most profitable year ever, he started pinching pennies with the payroll and either annoyed good workers to the point that they left by piling more work on their shoulders or coming up with excuses to not actually pay us the money he owed us, and some people had their pay cut in half so they quit. He would even manipulate the pay of the kids making minimum wage, editing their paychecks to show fewer hours than what they actually worked. Minimum wage went up and he refused to pay them the new minimum wage until one one of them filed a complaint with the department of labor. Almost all of the management team was replaced with part-timers. The guy ran the place into the ground and in typical ice rink industry fashion, was immediately hired at another rink...it'll be interesting to see how much longer Flemington stays afloat now. I also heard the final nail in Protec's coffin was that the owner cheated on his wife and they were getting divorced, so I guess selling the rink that they co-owned was partially the result of that.
