Bryant has been a well above average hitter every year of his career except the fake season last year. He's been excellent this year. What will it take to get him I have no idea but let's not diminish what's he's already done in his career.
Conforto is hitting .195. Pathetic. He’s been awful this year but .195. Come on. 1 year contract for him for next year. Blew lots of money.
The first question is whether the Mets make Conforto a qualifying offer. My guess is that they do. I think it's unlikely that he signs with the Mets for less than the qualifying offer.
He will get hot in the second half, and somebody is going to pay him. Whether it is the Mets, I do not know.
Now being reported by Jeff Passan as a torn ACL and done for the season. ☹ Great young player. I wish him well in his recovery.
Horrible to see. Anyone who's ever torn an ACL knows what I'm talking about. Totally ruins their season as that's 2 tremendous players they've lost, one to ignorance, one to a sports related injury.
That’s great. Personally I would have preferred they waited a week because I was planning to go to Brooklyn to see a Cyclones game this week. Oh well - at least I can watch Mauricio and Alvarez.
Something looks way off with Conforto. His swing seems robotic/ mechanical as he’s not fully extending. Don’t know if it’s an injury or what but he seems confused at the plate. We need him to produce badly.
Observations from Yesterday’s doubleheader which I was at:
- McNeil seems locked in. All Star Break is not good news for him
- Conforto is a mess
- Lindor trying to play too much hero ball and win over fans. If he could just spray line drives, he ll be fine. I think he ll have productive 2nd half
- Need a SP and 5 hitter with power
to solidify / upgrade this team
- Big crowd during first game. Was surprised half or more than half left after 1st game.
- Weird scheduling that we play Pirates again immediately after all star break.
