Blame me. I picked up TM on my fantasy team to pitch tonight. Next time I go with my head not my heart

But but but

Going 1-23 with RISP in April and May didn’t matter.
Being asleep and having the mindset that games don’t REALLY matter until after the all star break. (Dom’s words not mine )

but but but

Baez was going to slide and stopped and now he’s hurt

just an FYI. And I’m sorry to annoy some ....

2-0 slider 7 inches off the plate and low with the pitcher having no idea where home plate is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turned out he was fine. When he was running to 1B he grabbed his hammy or glute though.

For the remainder of the year keep an eye on ....,,
How many times a met swings at a pitch 4 plus inches high, low , and/or outside-inside ...then stares at next pitch directly down middle of the plate

they depend too much on reports and guess way too much
They also have in their mind they are swinging and end up swinging at pitches that almost hit them , bounce before the plate ,or are 5 inches off the plate

btw I’m not wrong They are the worst scoring team in the league

and I’m getting nervous that the owner is a fanboy and his team can do no wrong

Lead going to be down to 2.5 after tonight. Are we allowed to point out the Mets are in deep trouble?

They needed a pitcher and got the league strikeout leader instead and bat him cleanup in one of the worst lineups in the NL. Very Wilponian.

12-41 this season when scoring 3 or fewer runs. I'm not trying to be funny, but this is how I feel.

This is on everyone in the front office. Every one of them should be fired for not getting what they needed the most… and even blowing their wad on their draft pick.

The biggest head scratcher from the font office is they knew about de Grom likely being out for another month, and they did not acquire another pitcher, unless they think that Trevor Williams fit the bill. Trevor Williams- over 5 ERA and averages 4.5 innings per start. What were the other options, and if there were options, were they asked to give up too much?

Saw this last night:

I recall Zach Scott addressing the first point. He claimed that when they got deGrom's adverse medical results on Friday, there were only a couple of hours before the 4:00 deadline. By that time it was too late to pivot. A couple of guys whom they might have pressed harder for were already gone.

This is probably rebuttable. I'm just relaying what he said.

If you want to fire everyone, have at it. Front offices are overrated. Can't acquire any new players until next season anyway.

HOWEVER. I think the Rocker draft debacle was simply a case of "shit happens". Rocker refused to take a pre-draft medical. Based on the information available at the time, Mets took what I consider a prudent risk and drafted him. He then took his mandatory post-draft physical and the Mets saw something they didn't like. We'll never know what, nor should we. But it must have been pretty bad, or at least PERCEIVED to be pretty bad. The Mets pulled their offer, and here we are. They expect to get the 11th pick next year in addition to their own.

The only criticism I have, which several of us have pointed out, is that they didn't use their 20th pick (who is very unlikely to ever be heard from again anyway) on some high school hotshot who was undrafted because he is going to college. Just as a Plan B in case the Rocker deal falls through, which it did. The Mets could then channel the Rocker money his way.

An old friend, geez, what did he have our staff didn't see?
C. Flexen (W, 10-5)6.2722261113-713.75
You have to be sheeting us.
He was 3-11 as a Met over 3 seasons, posting ERAs of 7.88, 12.79, and 6.59. He's feasted on crap teams and gotten lit up by decent teams.

BTW, blame @Doctor Worm for the above post?

Flexen was real popular when he was here:

Shall will pull out Bartolo Colon's stats from the Mexico league and have a pity party? OMG, he's 6-2, let's sign him up!!

He can at least run “full” speed to first base, something many of our Mets are struggling to do😎

Holy crap, you really put in a lot of research to make a point, lmfao. I get it, zero complaining even if it was just an observation. If you check out most of my posts, I really don't complain, mostly "root" for the Mets since I was old enough to know baseball in my 66 years. PS. If you go back to 2019 though like you did on @Doctor Worm, I'm sure you could build a case against me. 😁

Hey, my post got two likes. So there.

I don't think the Mets dropped the ball on Flexen. He was in poor physical condition on the Mets. He has since dropped 50 pounds and gotten his mind right. He pretty much acknowledged that he probably needed to get out of NY. His year in Korea was no doubt the best thing for him.

Flexen had to change his whole approach and leave countries to get where he is now! Can't blame them for that.

Look at what Sewald is doing for Seattle as well. Dominant bullpen arm this year!!

Not zero complaining. I'm about to hit the panic and/or eject button on the season. :flush:

They need to start scoring more than 2-3 runs per game. Duh.

The SNY crew after the game was hilarious. Recker was like:

The takeaway is that the Mets should pay to send Bartolo to Korea to drop some weight. . . .

and then make him a pinch hitter and pinch runner!!

Any word on Javy Baez--is he injured?
