Carrasco leaves game injured just in time for Scherzer to come back. It's tag team SP apparently. Carrasco was down on his FB today so could explain partly why he pitched so poorly. Now we wait for the diagnosis.

If Nido moved closer to the plate, a lot of those balls he hits off the end of the bat for outs would be over the sweet spot of the barrel. Who knows how many more hits he would have.

Nido back to 219

Maybe McCann reworked his entire swing and can revert back to last year with White Sox
I’ll take him not swinging at pitches 14 inches outside and low to start

Steve Gelbs tweeted that Carrasco left due to lower back tightness. So at least its not another arm injury or hamstring which sidelined him for a good portion of last season. Could be minor or it could be something that could cost him to miss a start.

There you go. Gone and you should do so yourself.

Now for Mets talk the back end of the pen needs help. Going to be our main focus at the deadline I believe. Hopefully Hunter can pitch well and May comes back and does the same.

This had to be one of the few SNL skits that rivaled the original SNL classics. The Janet Jackson skit is the only other one that could be put in with this as worthy

As a player you’ve got nothing to do but think about the next pitching match up.
A hot Alcantra won’t make it easy tomorrow.

Jake Mangum likely our for the year with a lower back injury. He was basically our next OF depth after Plummer and Lee. Probably why we just signed Endar Inciarte.

Ronny Mauricio really struggling lately. OBP below .300 even now. His prospect status is down big time.

Overall it's just not a strong performance with multiple batters in the low 200's or below. Really need to have a strong draft to start developing some young starting pitching and OF prospects with most of the guys on the current major league roster at both spots on the plus side of 30.

The farm has a few high upside players but the depth still isn't there. Alvarez is as elite as they come which helps. The draft this year will help. We have a lot of decent arms from last years draft that will move rather quickly as well with some upside as middle to back end SP or relief.

On this off day, let's change it up a bit and take a look back at that motley crew who won our hearts last year - the Bench Mob! Where are they now?

Kevin Pillar - The leader of the Bench Mob, who took a fastball in the face and was back the next day. 2022 has not been kind to Pillar. He declined his 2022 player option and hit the open market, but the best he could do was a minor league deal with the Dodgers. He spent the first two months of the season in AAA. When they finally called him up in last May, he got hurt within a week and remains on the IL. At least he's collecting an MLB salary.

Jonathan Villar - A Bench Mobber who soon became a regular out of necessity. Signed a one year deal with the Cubs where he is not flourishing, as his .605 OPS and -0.8 dWAR will attest. Some folks say the Mets should have re-signed him instead of Escobar. Perhaps the correct answer was "neither".

Luis Guillorme - Graduated to semi-regular status.

Jose Peraza - Was the regular 2B for over a month. Had some good moments, but not enough of them. Has spent all year in Scranton, the Yankees AAA affiliate.

Billy McKinney - He too had some good moments, but was expendable when the regulars returned. Traded to Dodgers, where he hit only .146 but did make a postseason appearance. Signed with the A's in 2022, where he was batting .096 when DFA'd. (He didn't even make it to the Interstate entrance ramp!) Currently playing for the A's AAA affiliate as a nonroster player.

Brandon Drury - The Bench Mob's #1 success story! Is playing regularly with the Reds, where he is an All-Star candidate with his 14 HR and .841 OPS.

Albert Almora, Jr. - The Mob's #1 enigma. He went for .321 as a Met. Not his BA, his OPS. Chew on that for awhile. The cost-conscious Reds signed him to a nonroster contract and promoted him after about a month. Now he is new man, with a .287 BA and .781 OPS. Go figure.

Patrick Mazeika - Last year's king of the walk-off dribbler is this year's placeholder. When McCann gets here, I think we will have seen the last of him. When Alvarez gets here, I KNOW we will have seen the last of him.

Mason Williams - I had forgotten all about him. but he did start 10 forgettable games last year. Fun fact from Wikipedia, "In 2021, he had the slowest sprint speed of all major league center fielders, at 26.7 feet/second." I have no idea what he is doing now. Neither does Wikipedia.

Cameron Maybin - You think Almora's .321 OPS is cray-cray? Try .218. How does one have an OPS of .218? Having a BA of .036 helps. .036. Which did improve to .145 in AAA. To think the Mets had this guy batting third! Now doing TV work for YES and MLB network.

Travis Blankenhorn - Hit a HR in his first game as a Met, but did little thereafter. Was DFA'd and is now a nonroster player in Syracuse, where he is treading water with a .698 OPS. I think we've seen our last of him but you never know. Cool name though.

Johneshwy Fargas - Had his moments in his brief Met tenure until he unfortunately also got hurt. Got DFA'd and picked up by the Cubs, where he appeared in 15 games. Back in the Mets system in 2022, shuttling between AA and AAA. Seems to be buried on the depth chart. Too bad, as he has an even cooler name than Blankenhorn.

Khalil Lee - Struck out in his first eight MLB at bats, then followed it up with a game winning double. Has had a rough 2022 but appears to have rebuilt his status as a second-tier prospect.

Wilfredo Tovar - Chunky middle infielder who seemed to have gained about 30 pounds since his last prior Met cameo in 2014. Appeared in six games with little impact. Last seen playing in the Venezuela Winter League. Not sure what he's doing now.

Chance Sisco - Fourth string catcher who appeared in five games and went one for nine, but that one hit helped win a game. Landed with the Twins AAA affiliate, and is currently on minor league IL.

Jake Hager - Our last entry of the day, who went one for eight as a Met, has nicely landed on his feet. He is currently on the Diamondbacks roster and has appeared in 20 games - three as a pitcher!

So there you have it. My tribute to this ruffian gang, who kept the Mets in first place far longer than they had any right to be, is complete. If you've read this far, my thank-you present is a trivia question: Of the 16 players on this list, four of them are ex-Yankees. Without looking, how many can you name?

The next few games are going to say a lot- we are getting a weaker team(though, on a 3 game win streak) and the Braves get the LAD and Phils have SD...

Let's get Vientos up here! Baty with a really nice game. Alvarez keeps trucking along.

Interesting story to follow is Brandon McIlwain who has been having a fantastic year and newly promoted to AA and still hitting well. He's older because he was a FBS QB at Cal and didn't come back to baseball until late. Fantastic athlete.

Any questions just ask.
