So, as horrendous as the Mets have played with a little less than 1/5 the season played, the Yankees are 1 game out of 1st place, and the Mets are 1.5 out of 1st place. Oh the calamity of it all.
As much as I would like to be excited about that, I'm not. It's the SOS with Sandy AND THE WILPONS there. Cant blame Sling Blade anymore.
I fully understand the SOS argument, believe me, I do. That said, you can only play who's on your schedule, and the NL East is proving to be way better than recent years with the NL as a whole,showing more teams that would rank better than the AL. Currently the NL has 11 teams at .500 or better, and the AL with only 8 teams.Hardly showing any dominance that Yankee fans love to chirp about!!!
No, it was meant to illustrate that while the Mets have fallen off the same cliff as the Royals, the Mets did at the very least get to the World Series along with the Royals. It's not like the Mets have been the dregs of the league the past 10 years.

I'd make the argument on how even the Mets were with Washington, LA and Chicago in 2015 and even in 2016 until the Wilpons/Sandy regime was exposed as fraudulent cheap bastards.
Never said how bad the division was or is. Hell, I'm scared that the division has passed the Mets with their signings and better MiLB systems. The only thing I can think of that the Mets have done is hire Mickey Callaway and Dave Eiland. It's not their fault that the prospects hit .200 and Matz cant spend 2 straight weeks away from the DL.

Now the Mets' situation might improve over the next few days as next up for them is the worst team in MLB.....Cincinnati. While the Yankees play the only team in MLB with a better record than the Bronx Bombers. But everybody knows the Yanks are one of the best teams in baseball. And nobody thinks the Mets are.

Absolutely stupid idea to give him that money. The best decision the Yanks have made in a long time was not resigning Cano for that 10-year contract (but Cashman screwed the pooch and panic signed Ellsbury).
Aren't the Orioles tied with Cincinnati as the worst team in baseball, both at 8-26, and didn't the Yankees lose 3 of 4 to them???

That Baltimore series was over a month ago in the first week of the season. If the Mets have shown people anything it's that the first few weeks of the season don't mean so much.
Have the Mets EVER won 15 of 16 games ? Let alone done it against some of the better clubs in baseball ?
And have the youngest team in MLB ? And a farm system ranked 2nd or 3rd in MLB ?
BTW. the Mets farm system is I believe ranked 29th.
All true,but the point is,you always hedge your predictions.This isn't about the Yankee farm system or the winning streak,all true points,and doesn't have anything to do with you basically saying the Mets should win because they are playing a bad team. The great 1927/2018 Yankees lost 3 of 4 to the worst team in baseball when they were playing bad, so the Mets winning or not against a bad team isn't set in stone as they are playing bad right now.Can you at least see how you always try to take away anything the Mets do? As far as the first week of the season meaning nothing, that's about as ignorant a statement as you can make. Those first 12 games could very well be the cushion that keeps this very flawed team in the race.
