I was surprised that he went in the 4th round of the draft. He was always steady under pressure while playing in the SEC. I am happy he is doing so well.
Did you know that he texts his mom before every game? That may not be surprising to most, until you learn that his mom died 2 years ago.
Not with that line who can't run block well enough to have a consistent run game or pass block without the QB feeling the world is closing in on him.[laughing]Can Romo be headed to the Jets next year?
What it boils down to is that the Cowboys are a more complete team than the Eagles right now. In 2 years of good offensive drafting however, both teams will likely be the class of the NFC along with Seattle and Green Bay. Eagles need 1-2 OL, 1-2 WRs and a RB who doesn't fumble in the 4th quarter.
Cowboys have better offensive units on offense everywhere except QB. And it's not even close. Some serious WTF calls by the Eagles O late in the game. Plus an obligatory 4Q fumble sealed the Eagles fate.
The good news if you are an Eagles fan is that Wentz is the real deal. Eagles/Cowboys and Wentz/Prescott could be the Peyton/Brady rivalry of the late 2010s/2020s. That said to quote Walter Matthau in the Bad News Bears this Sunday, "Bad news for the Giants."Agree with all of that. And still I think the Birds should have held on for the win last night. No worries. 8 wins is a good year with this squad.

Wentz is covering up a LOT of bad personnel issues. Our line is decimated. We have smurf running backs with fumble issues. If by some miracle one of our receivers gets open past 10 yards, his chances of actually hauling in a pass is 50/50. Ertz is starting to feel a lot like LJ Smith part 2.
We are good enough to play with any team thanks to our pass rush if we play a clean game. But we are bad enough of a team that if we make any sort of mistake, it's basically a loss.
Classic. The Jets move up to draft a POS like Sackenberg, and Prescott looks like a future pro bowler. And we wonder why the Jets never win.
I don't follow the draft - are you telling me the Jets picked Hackenberg, on purpose, over Prescott? I'm not a scout, but I do watch a lot of college football and it seemed pretty obvious to me that Prescott was the much better QB. Good arm, good running ability, nice accuracy, and probably most important, good poise under pressure.Classic. None of the QB outside of 1 or 2 were deserving of top round money. When you draft a player in certain rounds they are slotted for a certain salary. A player can be good, but not worth the extra money.Cowboys passed up on Dak 4x. Still don't understand why.

Who would the Eagles be? Wisconsin? Loyal but surly fans with history of being a winning team but never a championship team? The Jets are the NFL version of Rutgers sadly.

Eagles fan too.As an eagles fan LJ Smith is a far better TE than Ertz. Fumbles were LJs problem so that brings him down closer to Ertz level but still a better player. Ertz is all hype and one 16 check down catch game. I never saw the football skills and never liked the draft pick.
This. Eagles absolutely should've won that game. Some serious WTF calls by the Eagles O late in the game. Plus an obligatory 4Q fumble sealed the Eagles fate.
It was embarrassing to watch Pederson get outcoached by Garrett who is as dumb as a rock.This. Eagles absolutely should've won that game.
Eagles fan too.
From what I remember, LJ had a major problem adjusting to balls and had "adequate" hands at best -- two traits that do you no favors when your QB is McNabb (Master Jedi of wayward passing, particularly to one's feet...).
Ertz gets open & catches the ball but if negative YAC were a stat, he'd be the league leader.
IMO, neither is better than the other -- they are both "tools" players that certainly pass the eyeball test but can't seem to break through mediocrity.
In Pederson's defense, he's a rookie coach. And to balance the narrative a bit, he's also done a lot of good things. Trading Bradford, more creative play-calling, and 4th down aggression that paid off immediately come to mind.It was embarrassing to watch Pederson get outcoached by Garrett who is dumb as a rock.
Not to mention he didn't pick up his boss and mentor Andy Reid's horrid usage of timeouts and clock management. In Pederson's defense, he's a rookie coach. This was a horrific game for him, but it's still early.
Huh? Were you watching the end of regulation, when the Cowboys were going to have 3rd and 21 from their own 15 yard line with 35+ seconds left, if the Eagles had called a TO, but for some reason decided not to? You stop them on 3rd and 21 (they would've called a running play) forcing a punt with ~30 seconds left and you maybe get the ball back not far from midfield with maybe 20 seconds left. At the very least, you force the punt, which can always backfire. That was horrid. Not to mention he didn't pick up his boss and mentor Andy Reid's horrid usage of timeouts and clock management.
