Most don't care about the MLS, I know that.

But fantastic to see the NY posers lose yet again early in the playoffs.

Carpet bagging franchise with a dumb name after an energy drink.

What exactly makes them "Carpet bagging NY posers"?? Is it the fact that they play in NJ? Do you consider the Giants and the Jets "Carpet bagging NY Posers" or are you just a hypocrite? Also, what is the obsession with people and the fact that the team has a dumb name? New York Red Bulls is dumb... it's the name of the Corporate Brand who owns the team. They built a stadium that is STILL the class of MLS stadiums, built a top notch training facility and put together the top soccer academy in the US. So the team has a dumb name... is it any dumber than DC United (who exactly did they unite with? LOLZ), LA Galaxy (really!?), Columbus Crew, Houston Dynamo, Real Salt Lake etc etc... Most MLS teams have dumb names that sound like made-up minor league baseball teams or blatant wanna be European Club name rip-offs.

lol okay...now...as a Red Bull fan...they are the WORST when it comes to the playoffs. The # of times they've lost at home, in the 1st round, is stunning. Losing to Montreal in the 1st round, scoring but a single goal in 2 games, is completely unacceptable. Biggest problem is management, bottom line, as they keep building teams to win during the season, not in the post-season, which reminds me way to much of Ranger hockey teams for years-and-years.

Agree somewhat. They should be called the New Jersey Metrostars, The New Jersey Jets and the New Jersey Giants.

Listen, I don't like the "New York" thing, either, but why doesn't anyone EVER give shit to the "Dallas" Cowboys? They literally haven't played a game in Dallas in 45 years!

I was at the game yesterday, heartbreaking loss for RBNY. Bad penalty attempt from Sasha, but we do not get there without him, he has been tremendous this year. Completely different game if he converts the pen.

Was disappointed to see Veron start in place of Grella; Grella, who I acknowledge has holes in his game, at least brings creativity and belief; Veron brings none of these and should not be back next year IMO.

Could be worse, we could have been NYCFC. That game was over 6' in.

Enjoy your gloating now, OP. You are going to get embarrassed by Toronto- 6-1 on agg.

We finished 1st in the division and got embarrassed, 3-1 aggregate losing BOTH games, by freakin' Montreal. Sasha should have been taken out of the game the second he was injured. He was absolutely useless after coming back in following 10 - TEN FULL MINUTES - of playing a man down waiting for him. What a freakin' waste of time that was when you're in the position that this team was in yesterday. Also, we had opportunity-after-opportunity in the 2nd half to score in the 2nd half, from point-blank range, yet continually failed to do so. Awful play, awful coaching decisions, typical Red Bull playoff run.

** sorry for venting Bill! [cheers]

@AreYouNUTS Not sure if you were at the game, or if they showed this on TV, but the team on the field kept looking over to the bench/Sasha with their hands in the air as if to say WTF. A couple of times Sasha stood up as if to re-enter the game and then sat back down for several more minutes. This combined with the missed PK totally took the wind out of the RBNY sails until it was too late.

BTW, you were COMPLETELY right about the West Ham move to the new larger stadium being a detriment. Total lost the atmosphere. Would go back to the cozy confines of Upton Park in a heartbeat.

Yup.

Yup againwhat's going to happen is, 10 to 15 years down the road, some of these teams are going to reconfigure their new stadiums. I look at it kind a like I look at the multipurpose stadiums that were built in the 60s, in Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Atlanta, St. Louis, and wherever else. Complete waste of space. All ended up being replaced by great, new, intimate ballparks that are really loud. Complete opposite of what the Yankees did, by the way, unfortunately!

I was at this game and the Rutgers game this weekend, not one of my best weekends. Season ticket holder for both teams.

As for the OP, I'll take the high road and let his words speak for himself.

Very sad that this team lets everyone down year after year. Perennial regular season wonders can't get out of their own way in the playoffs.
