OT: Robert Clary dead

RIP.

Loved him in Hogan's Heroes. Never knew he spent time in a concentration camp. Wow!

The actor I'm reminded of is the guy who plays Frenchie on The Boys.

One last note - I originally read this as Robert Cray which would have really sucked since I have tickets to his concert in January.

RIP to a man who overcame more than most will ever know and made the best of it despite the hardship and heartache he endured early in his life

Interesting that he, Werner Klemperer (Klink), John Banner (Schultz), and Leon Askin (Burkhalter) were all Jewish playing characters in a German POW camp, and that they stayed in contact with each other after the show.

I believe he was the last living cast member from Hogan's Heroes.

Actually there's one other, Kenneth Washington, who played Sergeant Baker in the 6th season of the show.

Great point about the irony of those actors. Not only were they Jewish but WK was German and JB was Austrian by birth but both luckily got out in time. Klemperer's cousin Victor Klemperer kept a very famous and often cited by scholars journal of the Nazi years which he only managed to survive due to his marriage to a non- Jewish woman and the bombing of Dresden which occurred as he was about to be deported.

He spoke to us at the Holocaust center in Los Angeles in the summer of 1983. He was amazing. Sorry for his loss. I can’t believe we’re enduring hatred and denial.

That’s the vibe I always got from him. Even before I knew his whole story.

And then after learning it, amazing indeed.

Sorry, but this is it.
And you know that how?

Been there and back have ya? Who knew.
Sorry, but I shouldn't have to be asked to prove that some fantasy world doesn't exist. It's the task of the believers to prove that their dreams are real.
Good luck with that.
BTW, just imagine how crowded such a fantasyland would be.

So you don’t know. Got it.

None of us do, actually. 🤷‍♂️

There is always something to disagree about.
Let's not disagree over anything concerning Robert Clary's death.
He was an amazing man by all accounts and deserves our respect, not petty quarreling
in a thread that informed about his death and talked about the hardships he overcame and other issues that made him an admirable person

No there isn't!

I thought Robert Cray died years ago

Some consider heaven implausible and not one's purpose. I know it's easy living life and staying hopeful

As I said earlier I thought he was a very interesting cat before I even knew his story.

We should all turn on MeTV tonight and watch an episode of “Hogan’s Heroes” in his memory.

He gave us his best after seeing and living the worst.
