Why isn't Bobby Hurley Jr. coaching Rutgers in tournament today?
Because it would take him longer here. :)
WAY longer!

Here is where you guys lose me. I get it's harder in the B1G but both Hurley brothers, guy at Albany, Dayton etc all get it done. Why can't RU do this? 15 years ago I lived in Albany and they were the bitch of Siena. Now they have gone to three straight tournaments and advanced twice....are their facilities that much better?

To me, these smaller conferences are much easier to make an impact in, especially for a coach with a name like Hurley.

Put that same guy at Rutgers where he has to compete in the B1G on a nightly basis and recruit against the facilities that they have with the facilities that we have, and it is apples and oranges.

I haven't seen them, but I would wager a fair amount that Buffalo, compared to their conference mates, have similar facilities. I bet Rhode Island has pretty good facilities. Without having seen them, I bet they are better than Rutgers'.

Bobby will most likely have offers very soon for major conference schools. I think this is the time to get him, but I also know that won't happen. Something tells me we are going to miss the ship on him....if he is even interested in coming here. Maybe he works out, maybe he doesn't, but he has huge upside and I'm willing to take that chance vs what we have now.

I think it's the apples vs. oranges thing where their fruit stand is much smaller to begin with.

UBs basketball practice facility looks pretty good
There you go. UB already has better facilities than Rutgers.

People underestimate the impact of not having a dedicated facility for basketball (and all sports for that matter). Saw a segment on Kentucky and Calipari was saying how their guys have 24/7 access to the facility and he often has guys working on their games at 1 or 2 in the morning. I am sure every school with a dedicated facility has this happening.

Where are Rutgers players going to work on their games at that time? No way do they have full access to the RAC or the LIvingston Student Center.

Maybe they can hit one of the outdoor courts over on Cook.

Just because a school is in a mid-major conference does not mean it's a mid-major program, especially for basketball. At least when compared to us.

The best two things going for us down the road will be conference affiliation and salary.

Jeff Goodman said Hurley Jr. is one of DePaul's top targets. DePaul paid their last coach Oliver Purnell north of $2 million, and DePaul has a brand new arena/facility on the way, possibly in 2017/18.
