Last year was a joke and it is possible apparently that this bad joke might get repeated.

Not just last year, but two years in a row. I don't follow the ins and outs as closely, but in my mind, 2016 may have been more of a travesty than last year. IIRC, Rutgers beat Hopkins twice that year including the conf. semis on their home turf in Baltimore and then lost to Maryland in the B1G final and still got left at home.

Rutgers lost to OSU late in 2016 and it cost them a bid because it ruined their RPI. RU finished at #20 in RPI, and that leaves you at home.

Can someone explain to me how Virginia has a high RPI. The only quality team they beat was Loyola. Look at who else they beat and it is not impressive at all. Vermont, stony brook Manhattan Drexel high point Dartmouth. They are getting voted as high in the polls as they are based on their history. Am I wrong on this?

Virginia has no bad losses....according to the RPI. Loyola has been dominant of late so that helps a lot too.

Uva is very questiobable. Too bad they wimped out and cancelled the series we had after only two games.

A couple of unbelievable Native American players from Upstate New York and a good coach
Albany without Fields is a shell of what they were. I’ll be surprised if they win their conference tournament.

The worry is that without fields and if they lose their conference tournament and their record do they get an at large. Or does the selection committee like basketball look at their last couple of games and determine that without fields they are not tournament quality. If they take an at large one less spot for everybody else.

Ok, you guys...

Today is the big day. The tournament starts Rutgers takes on #1 Maryland.

If Rutgers wins they not only stay alive in the Big Ten tournament but they take one big step closer to getting into the NCAA tournament. Lose this game and that might be all she wrote for dear old Rutgers.

Audio and video are way out of sync here. Audio way in front of video.

I don't really know lacrosse but Maryland get's way more wide open point blank goals then Rutgers does.

As I'm typing this they get another.

The drought grows to 15 years. Extremely disappointing last 2 games.

How does Albany have a better program?

Rinky dink school, crappy town.

New York has a lot of good lax players. Local schools near me always have a couple players in yearly NCAA title game. Albany has 3 kids from Yorktown and they go to states almost every year (I like that most of them play football to despite already having scholarships to ND, Maryland, Duke etc.) Plus the tribe players are real good and Albany is there turf.

Funny that just today I was at a local girls lax game (Hen Hud) and found out the goalie was going to Rutgers. By the concession there was a table with some sneakers a kid decorated and one pair had a Rutgers theme to congratulate the goalie.

Yorktown is a great place for lacrosse. We have had a number of guys from there over the years, including a couple on the team now.

I see a couple of their lacrosse games a year but I see almost all their home football games (they went to state title game last year). Their best football player was Brett Makar (All-State 1st team RB) who declared for Maryland lacrosse last year (he was just picked for Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Game). In 2016 their best football player was a QB who declared to play lacrosse for ND. Both guys also started on defense (LB and DB). Maybe its more common than I realize but it impressed me that both guys already had their offers and commitments to top lacrosse programs but they continued to play a lot of football. Other local schools can't even maintain a squad because their mommies made them quit.
