OT: Rutgers Soccer upsets Penn State to reach the Semis

Guy got it wrong in the interview. We will face the winner of the Northwestern (beat 2-0) v Nebraska (T 0-0 DoubleOT) game being played at 4PM today.

Any victory over PSUis special. This team is good. They have a chance at the championship.

Arguably the strongest team to ever finish 7th in the history of sports...

...okay, I might be over-the-top, just a tad, BUT this team could just as easily have finished 1st as it did 7th.

Great win by the ladies especially after last year. Don't know if we'll even see an invite to the NCAA's unless they win the B10 tourney though. They dropped out of the rankings 2 weeks ago and are only #23 in RPI

Unless they win the B1G tourney, they need every quality win to get an at-large bid. Firmly on bubble right now - probably on outside looking in since there are 3-4 B1G teams ahead of them.

Our RPI was 23 headed into today's game and now will only be higher by selection time. 64-team field we make it EASILY, IMHO, even with a loss on Friday.

I do not think it is a done deal by any stretch. Minny, NW and PSU all tied for regular season champion - they are already in IMO. If there's 4 that get in, it would us or Michigan. If 5 get in, we both probably get in. Remember, Michigan beat RU already. Fingers crossed. Would be a great re-building year to make the NCAAs.

Don't worry about "how many" teams from the B1G make it in the field. The ACC had 7 teams in last year. Pay attention to our RPI instead which is very, very important in both men's and women's soccer. Michigan's RPI is 48th.

It's great to see them do this, especially against PSU. Let's do this ladies!!

actually we played 7 of the top 30 teams
i think we overlook number 8 Georgetown and number 24 ST. Josephs 17-1-2 with the only loss to us

Congrats to the women's soccer team! Always nice to beat Penn State...Also without Casey Murphy I assume!
Yes she didn't play. Many teams a missing players because of the u20 World Cup this December. Penn state is with out 5 players who are playing in it.

We need to get a B1G Championship.

BTN will have the game live vs Northwestern at 5:30 on Friday.

I was also thinking of the lacrosse screw job from last year. And a similar scenario could happen again should RU defeat NW but lose in the final. RU is the only team to defeat NW this year and doing it again would make twice. But NW could still get into the NCAA ahead of us, just as happened with JHU in lacrosse after falling twice to RU.

As someone said, just win out.

LAX is really weird in that SOS has an over inflated value.

JHU got in because they played a harder schedule, even though we beat them twice and we were clearly the better team last season.

So we just need to schedule really tough teams, I guess it doesn't matter if we lose to them. Just playing them is good enough it seems.

I can't think of another sport like that.

Only 16 teams make the Men's Lax and we are NOT a "member of the club." 64 teams make the women's soccer tourney.
