I noticed on a sales receipt from yesterday that Rite Aid added sales tax to the toothpaste I purchased.
I had thought toothpaste was not taxed in NJ along with other essential toiletries.

Am I wrong?

Some legislators, like the one pictured, do not consider toothpaste "essential"

Pretty sure this is the guy running the Norcross arm of the "No North Jersey Casinos" campaign.

Just think of all the ideas in his head that DIDN'T make it to this board because he said "no, that's crazy. Let me go with the toothpaste one"

I give him props. He was able to articulate the mundane in less than 1000 words.

I dont want to be that guy but Mods, could we move this to the CE board where it belongs...:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

OP, should I have to pay the extra 75 cents for a pepperoni pizza if not all slices have pepperoni on them? You know that chit adds up ... It is over 9 cents more a slice!

Now I'm more confused then ever

At least they're slightly lowering the sales tax as a compromise for the gasoline tax. </sarcasm

Hell, I bought a pumpkin and they charged me sales tax. The Grandkid is coming Saturday to paint it with a scary face, I'm sure. After Halloween my wife will hollow it out and put in stew meat and vegetables and we'll enjoy her pumpkin stew. Absolutely delicious as she uses a ladle to scrape the pumpkin sides with the meat and vegetables into a bowl. Yumm.

My point is that pumpkin is a vegetable and shouldn't be taxed. Damn Democrats.

This relates to a pet peeve of mind.

Say you order a pie with a bunch of stuff on it. Like Sausage, Pepporone, onions and peppers. You pay .75 cents for each. Yet there is no way they add as much of each as when you order pie with only pepporoni, or only sausage.

Who is with me on this injustice???

What about if you order a Whopper and ask for no tomato. Why isn't it cheaper?

Was behind a guy at a McD this summer, and he wanted the Qtr pounder with cheese meal, without the cheese, he threw afit and even got the manager out to talk to him because he wanted a discount because of the no cheese - left in a huff when he couldn't get it.
