So tiny Staten Island Academy with a total of 80 girls in school from freshman - senior year play and beat Blair Academy (NJ) with a UConn commit ,Andra Espinoza-Hunter, and 6'9" center (not sure where she's going).
Staten Island Academy is the smallest school on Staten Island, but now ranked #1 in Staten Island over some schools w 5000 students.

The Staten Island coach is Rose Bruno, the asst is Ed Bruno. Both have been coaching a while. Rose was a star for tiny Molloy College. Ed Bruno never played.

Rose Bruno is a phenomenal coach, and she is my niece, Ed my first cousin. Rose also is a nurse during the day and does Real Estate Sales as well, lol. Mother of young twin girls who play at 5 years old.

Very proud of my niece and nephew , not sure where else I could post this where anyone would care, but a women's BB message board, lol Thanks for reading.

Very cool. My eagle eyes suggest that the photo is not from the Blair Academy game, though - that looks like the home court of my high school.

'ABERDEEN, N.J. -- The Staten Island Academy girls' basketball team went into its game against Blair Academy Saturday as a big underdog, but they came out as the top dog after a 63-45 victory in the Festival of the Phoenix at Matawan High School.'

They played Blair at a tourny held at Matawan.

Here's a pic of Blair's 6'9" girl player from Nigeria:

Ouch.

I actually lived closer to St. John's than I did to Matawan High School. Back in those days, St. John's was pretty new and wasn't really that good in sports. Matawan was very strong in football, but not in much else in the way of sports, as I recall. (The marching band and jazz band were very good, but that's a whole different thing, obviously.)
