I love this quote from Jim Boeheim in the article:

"Jim Boeheim said he takes takes responsibility for staff members under him at Syracuse, but that he did not have any "personal involvement" in the findings outlined by the NCAA Committee on Infractions."

I'm sure these basketball staff members didn't commit these deeds without the direction from their Hall of Fame Coach, right?

Jim Boeheim whining about sanctions...

When a guy becomes as powerful as Boeheim in their profession, that person's underlings don't say or do jack **** without the boss man's approval for fear of reprisal.

At the very least, the order form JB was - do what you need to do, wink wink, but keep all this as far away from me as possible (so there would always be plausible deniability).

His press conference today was an embarrassment. Interesting that he timed it so that most of the reporters would be busy following the tournament and not around to ask questions. The guy is a complete POS.

Not only a C-H-E-A-T but a C-O-W-A-R-D as well.

Given the scores of "sports journalism" grads from Syracuse, it'll be interesting to see how they handle this news re: their beloved alma mater. Perhaps some would now turn up the heat on UNC?

At ESPN, though, since "the boss" is a Tar Heel, that may get tricky.

We shall see. . . .

It looks like the only way to win in college basketball is to put out a nice guy image upfront and cheat like hell in the back office. It looks like Dean Smith, and his successors, Jim Calhoun and Boeheim all were doing it. I am sure that Mr. Calipari is just as clean.

Don't forget Pitino in the "EABOD Club"

Its interesting Syracuse is allowed to bring a top notch recruiting class this season without any sanctions.Boeheim will have Syracuse back in the NCAA next season and he will retire on a high note because the NCAA has shown with Penn State and North Carolina that sanctions are modified over time in favor of the schools.

Nice.
Does this really surprise anyone? He has been pretty clear for a long time now that his job is to win games and nothing else.

UNC investigation is still ongoing.

You break the rules with impunity and then complain about the harshness of the sanctions, try not breaking the rules and you won't have a problem, what an asswipe.

I'm *shocked* that a certain express from Elmira hasn't stopped by yet to comment about cuse's current situation since, you know, he always seems to have some smart-a** remark to offer about RU...

Seems like one arrogant bunch up there. The AD doesn't get fired but instead gets "re-assigned". Boeheim gets the boot -- if you want to call it that -- on HIS terms IN 3 YEARS when he'll be 73 yo. Yeah this is a school that realizes they did wrong and are cleaning house in the wake of this scandal

I listened a bit to "Mike & Mike" this morning. Had on Jay Bilas and then Bruce Pearl, both of whom sympathized with the coach, argued on behalf of Syracuse/Boeheim. Comical. Seemed orchestrated. A pathetic display. Chris Carton, on the other hand, (part of Boomer & Carton), this morning was very critical of Boeheim and Syracuse. Carton is an SU alumn.

I tend to like Bilas but I heard him this morning as well. He has a big anti-NCAA agenda and that's clouding his judgment with regards to Boeheim IMO.

Could it also have something to do with who signs his paycheck?

'Orchestrated' is the best way I've heard ESPN Radio described. Some of it can be engaging, but it often seems contrived, staged and manufactured. All the shows seem to follow the same model- talk about or create controversial topic, establish the network's POV, offer token contrarian opinion, have a 'special guest' (always another ESPN-created personality) with everyone ultimately agreeing with the ESPN-Approved Point of View (tm).

I don't think that really has anything to do with it. Bilas has been anti-NCAA for years. He's made many diatribes on players being paid, etc. Like PSU fans, he's so anti-NCAA, that at this point, no matter what the NCAA does, he'll find a way to pick on them.

While claiming racism by asking if people think Syracuse shouldn't accept foreign students. Apparently he doesn't know what the word racism means. Guy sounds really desperate.

Maybe he should have said that people should be more worried about ISIS instead of the Syracuse men's basketball program.

Bilas, who is actually a great analyst, fell in that trap again this morning on Mike and Mike...as when asked about Boeheim's comments from yesterday (that most rightfully ripped him for) Bilas spent 95% of his time ripping the NCAA and completely ignoring the question asked and/or all the comments Boeheim made yesterday.

Its sad that his is almost a carnival act...as since the NCAA is so easy a target to attack...that's basically all he does (he has gotten 10 times the publicity for his "war" on the NCAA than all the breakdown of NCAA games he has done over past 20 years), I don't think he will ever, ever stop...which is a shame...as he has great hoop knowledge and can break down almost any teams strengths/weaknesses in seconds.
