Apologies for the OT.

Getting kitchen redone and putting in porcelain tile for the floor. Already have the tile picked out. Can anyone recommend a tile installer in the Scotch Plains/Westfield area?

Many thanks in advance.

Reach out to Raul Del Cueto (908-347-6899).

He is based out of Elizabeth, but does work in the Westfield area. I am in Mountainside, and he tiled our basement, bathroom and kitchen back splash.

Sleepi,

Tiling is the easiest job to do around the house.

Tiles cut very easily with even the cheapest Walmart hand saw.

Pro Tip: Just spread grout on the wall and push the tiles into grout instead of wasting your time with mastic. The grout will hold the freshly cut tile in place and grout the tiles in one easy step. Just wipe away the excess and viola, you're done. Ready to shower in 30 minutes.

Your Welcome.

Tiling a floor is definitely something you can do yourself over a weekend if you want to save several hundred bucks. I did it for the first time last summer. Took me a day to demo and lay the tile for a 120 sqft kitchen. The next day I grouted. Grab your son, or a nephew or friends son and pretend you're teaching him. You'll get a free helper and you both will get a positive experience learning how to tile a floor.

Sleepi,

Always nice to run into folks from Elizabeth on here. I grew up on Decker Ave, by Kean, but went to Roselle Catholic (1997) for HS.

Raul is a family friend and I believe he still lives in Elmora Hills. He does very good work at very reasonable prices.

LOL :-) I'm mechanically declined and would totally screw it up, as simple as it may be. I need to demo hardwood floor, too. No chance for me.....I'll pay the $$ and read the message boards while someone who knows what they are doing knocks it out :-)

RuScrew : If you were a good friend, you'd offer to come up and do it :-)

RuLaw : I'll give Raul a call and get some estimates. Thanks for the recommendation.

Im in Mountainside and i do my own tiling, but tiling backsplashes and floors are really two different thing. Unless you are a pro or a skilled weekender, get a tile guy. It should cost you 4x the tile cost in total.
