OT: U of Maryland-College Park health scare / student death

https://www.insidehighered.com/news...th-university-maryland-deep-cleans-dorm-rooms

Also noted at end of article:

"Campuses in the eastern U.S. recently have experienced outbreaks of hand, foot and mouth disease, which causes fever, sore throat and a rash. Johns Hopkins University had at least 120 cases of the viral infection in October, and Lehigh University reported more than 100."

I’ve got a son in College Park now and one who graduated in 2015. The real, serious health problem at U of MD is a rampant black mold problem that is prevalent both in on-campus and off-campus apartments. The school has for many years failed to take the problem seriously and now it is an epidemic.

Related to the note at the end of the article...there were a few weeks in the middle of the fall semester when more than of a few of my students were out with hand foot and mouth. They are in the elementary ed grad program so it makes sense, but I wa surprised when I got the emails.
