OT: UNC Scandal Update...Roy Knew

Sad reading the comments.
The UNC deniers are as bad as the PSU deniers.

Joe knew
Art knew
Roy knew

Football is the almighty god and all else is secondary.

Could be the fall guy, who will go down for all of this, protecting Williams. And later on be nicely rewarded for it.

Roy knew what exactly? That the brilliant scholars he had on his basketball team were taking bogus classes to stay eligible?
Really, who cares. It's not like he had a bunch of Rhodes scholars on his team . He had mostly kids who would not be in college if not for hoops. Williams wins and that's basically all that matters.

Of course he knew.

Agree with MrsScrew. Powerful men always know the institutional dirty secrets. They usually get to the top by being able to raise plausible deniability to allow their sycophants to keep the party going and give their culty followers the opportunity to act like wannabe lawyers. The mental gymnastics that the true believers engage in is always as impressive as it is sad.

As long as my school wins, right?

Still no updates from the NCAA?

SMH
Not sure why anyone is shocked by this. For all practical purposes, the decision makers in the NCAA = UNC (+ the other powerful member schools). You will get lip service, but real and painful self regulating never really happens in life. It's like @RU4Real cutting a check ever time he hits triple digits on the NJTPK. It ain't never gonna happen.

Wait... I can do that?

That is what makes this worse. If UNC can take their pick of the best athletes that are also decent students... and instead they just take the best athletes who don't care about academics one bit... this is worse than, say, a UNLV taking academic risks just to try to compete athletically with the "haves".

Makes no difference. The NCAA doesn't want to damage major programs in p5 schools. They let PSU off the hook. They are desperately trying to find a way to do the same thing here. Do not be surprised to see the PSU method applied here. They will announce the major discipline against the school and then, after the dust settles, quietly the following year back off most of the major sanctions so as not to damage their program.
