I guess his medical issues are resolved to resume coaching. Haven't we heard this story before from him?
No NFL experience?Interested to see who he brings along for his staff as reports are he was already lining them up a few weeks ago. I could see a reunion with Tom Herman as his OC.

See Also GS in Tampa. This hire will be interesting to watch.
Micro-managers can be wildly successful or completely crash and burn in the NFL.
A DC with no NFL experience and first year coach is not going to happen imo
And Saban in MiamiSee Also GS in Tampa.
Not gonna happen. That bridge was burned long ago.Interested to see who he brings along for his staff as reports are he was already lining them up a few weeks ago. I could see a reunion with Tom Herman as his OC.
Is someone actually reporting this?Ash is expected to be the DB coach.

Sure, and when things build up for a few years the problems reoccur. The only way this doesn't turn into a 2 or 3 year gig is if he hires a hell of a staff and the draft and free agent analysis turns out to be less taxing than recruiting.
Hmmmmmmmmm...........not sure this is a wise move on his part.
And Spurrier and Holtz. And Saban in Miami
Saban has a decent defense for his failure. He tried to get Drew Brees as his QB when the Chargers moved on from him, but the Dolphins’ doctors wouldn’t clear the move because of Brees’ shoulder. And Saban in Miami
Community relations manager?Maybe he will hire Chris Ash..
Saban was Belichick's DC in Cleveland a few years before being hired in Miami. He was more mediocre than bad as an NFL head coach. And Saban in Miami
Hydration EngineerCommunity relations manager?
You mean the guy who just gave up 52 to a team with all future NFL players?Name to watch for DC is Kerry Coombs.
Look for anyone that worked for him at Ohio State or Florida that are currently unemployed. The coaching game is about who you know.Interested to see who he brings along for his staff as reports are he was already lining them up a few weeks ago. I could see a reunion with Tom Herman as his OC.
Meyer is more then a first year coach. He is one of the greatest coaches in CFB history and had put more players in the NFL then nearly anyonebnot named Saban. He will instantly command the respect of his team and players more so then other first year coaches. This hire will be interesting to watch.

I don't think Meyer will be bringing Coombs on as DC. Coombs was passed over multiple times for DC at OSU leading Coombs to leave and go to the Titans. Meyer leaves and Day is in charge Coombs was brought back to be DC. Not saying it can't happen but highly unlikely that Meyer would pass Coombs up in a proven system at OSU to give him the reigns in the NFL. Plus Coombs couldn't figure out that you can't cover a Heisman trophy winning WR with a slow LB.Name to watch for DC is Kerry Coombs.

I would've said Medulla Oblongata Specialist. But Hydration Engineer works. 😀Hydration Engineer
Not happening. Trevor is going to Jacksonville. You can’t pass him up. That’s why Urban took the job.Heard a podcast with Ryan Shazier last week (committed to Meyer at Florida, went to OSU when Meyer left Florida, then Meyer ended up at OSU anyway).
He said "if" Meyer goes to Jax don't rule out them taking Fields.
Not that Fields is better than Lawrence but because Fields would already know/have familiarity with the system Meyer will want to run.
Note - he also didn't think Meyer was going to take the job in the first place. Said the way Meyer likes to run the entire show, coach and run his offense would turn Meyer off from the NFL.
Why didn’t Urban offer Lawrence when he was at Ohio State? Not happening. Trevor is going to Jacksonville. You can’t pass him up. That’s why Urban took the job.
They are probably throwing him a ton of money to leave his job in the booth. Add in the first pick and potentially build a team that would make him the third coach to win a National Championship and a Super Bowl as a final motivating factor...
